@fringland I have HTC tmobile G2. donno if I can make video calls with my girlfriend on the other side of the world! (I live in Canada, she is in Turkey) so she cannot have an smart phone like we have here.
This app is amazing, i have friends that use skype and Gtalk and my parents use neither, so my $30 a year unlimted skype plan allows me to video chat, filetransfer, internet game with friends and i use my Droid on wifi to call anybody, anywhere... Im in Japan and talk to NJ phones like im in the same zip code-- AWESOME, cant beat it... the video chatting with the droid is somewhat slow but that has a lot to do with the time of day, as the internet slows down at night (when i mostly call home)
@Luiseota I have an EVO. I've owned a computer since the 5th grade. I started programming in Pascal back in the 80's. I'm, without question, computer literate. It took me 4 days to figure out that I needed to sign up for a Skype account in order to make the video conferencing work; and even then, I haven't been able to test it because I don't know anybody who uses Skype.
how do you make a video call using fring to hotmail, aim, yahoo and all these other platforms that they say they support. this is bullshit. Fuk an EVO.
its not supporting in earphone and ear speaker in android samsung galaxy only works with loud speaker of phone and thats why it repeats the sound on otherside and also low sound in speaker
If you are in a starbucks with free wifi, great, but if you are using "unlimited" 3g roaming, I suggest you check and see exactly how unlimited your unlimited really is. Skype, for instance uses a hell of a lot of data in a single call. It has a use and is a great app, but beware of 3g data costs once you reach your limit.
Good Lord no, nothing mobile companies offer as unlimited in the UK, and I suspect elsewhere, is unlimited.
I wrote to O2 and said, we both know you are lying through your teeth when you say "Unlimited" so now, before I sign on, please tell me the truth. They still haven't replied and I went elsewhere.
no seriously though... can this be configured to sit active all the time so it can be a practical means to "receive" calls when they come in? Also, it uses the data connection only, so it doesn't count toward cell min... and 3) since it uses a sip, you can configure multiple phone numbers and routing right? Thanks!
Confusing and overly trite review of what could be a killer app for the Android. He made a call from one friend to another, but can it be used to call international or domestic telephone lines over wi-fi?
The guy in this video says, not very smartly, that he's making a "Wi-Fi 3G" call. There's no such thing, and in fact, the difference between the two is the 90% reason why this is significant for Android phones -- especially since Skype's own Android application fails to place calls over Wi-Fi only connections.
Naturally the major value of Wi-Fi calling is for traveling abroad without having to pay grossly inflated roaming charges.
This sounds really good. First real Skype on Android, is it better than SIPdroid for SIP calls? I hope so. But could you provide a direct download link on your site to the .apk file so Android tablets, Laptops whatever which may not have Marketplace yet can also get this app..
i dont get it so if i add this app it gives me free calling?

Being a Jew is your personal life, you don't have to make videos wearing that thing on your head, unless you want to PROMOTE your religion.
I'm atheist but I use to be a catholic Christian, and I never did what you do in this video...
Android is freee!

i downloaded it and just made a VOIP call over edge, it was awful... but it worked.
i bet over 3g/wifi quality is much better
