  • Odyssey doesn't even come close to your hype. Your video obvisiously is fake.

  • When is the Cybook Odyssey with this technology coming out?? End of october? November? (with this refresh rate I would use this technology also as a computer screen even if bw 'cause LDC are annoying only after an hour or so)

  • I can't believe my eyes. When and where can I buy it?

  • @ArtemRomanov It will be available on November 22 from Bookeen site

  • @petifrancai I found it for €149.99. Does odyssey support Russian language? Can I watch movies on it? Will be any external keyboard supported?

  • @ArtemRomanov sorry, i don't know^^'

  • Too bad that many content publishers/shops use drm on their products so they can remotely delete the books you bought from them even long after the purchase. As long as that continues, i will stick to paper books. But i like this cybook, very nice.

  • well, there's still a little burn-in happening but incredible refresh rate.

  • How about Battery Life? If regular Ebook can take 9000-15000 pages... i guess, that rapid techology will drain battery very quickly in Browser Mode. Well, in Reading Mode it should have same battery life as kindle 3

  • It's quite reasonable people would be suspicious seeing as how big companies like Amazon and Barnes and Noble don't even have this sort of thing but hey, even teh small guys can develop something different and something better. Its not like innovation and technological development is exclusive to big companies with massive research funding.

Congratulations Cybook, this is awesome stuff.

And take a look at the new kobo; the screen is quite fast but not as impressive as this.

  • It's not stop motion. The Cybook Odyssey is also using a sped up Pearl E-Ink display. Impressive.. now, how did they do it?

  • Typical bookeen. Their products are nothing more than crap. All they can do is lie and publish ridiculous fake videos like this. Time for them to get finally off the market.

  • My question is how? What did you improve? Please share the exciting technicalities! Oh, and does it also work in color? I mean, for an e-ink color layer will the colors refresh with good speed?

  • For those that think this is fake, take a look at the Kobo Touch demos where they're panning around on a PDF; it's very nearly this fast. I don't have any trouble believing that Bookeen got it a little better. They've been doing eInk for longer than almost anyone, certainly way longer than Amazon has.

  • @kleykenb

We are not a video producer but developer of ebook reader since 1998.

If you see this example of our current development it’s because we have great engineers developing new unique features for our next readers. (since the first Cybook in 2000).

We invite you to discover it by yourself next time you will be in Paris. You will meet with engineers not a sales director!

Btw you are right on one thing only, the camera moves, we should buy a camera tripod to shoot the display!

  • @kleykenb 1. Wobbly camera holding 2. Innovation and technological development is not exclusive to big companeis with massive research funding. 3. Look at the kobo whose screen is qutie fast but not as impressive as this. Congratulations Cybook team. Awesome stuff.

  • класс))) быстренько))))

  • wow!!

please, use it on a 9'-10' device for technical pdf

  • Awesome, love e-Ink, screw LCD :P

  • So... the new "breakthrough" in e-paper is stop-motion animation? I don't get it. but now I have "Take On Me" stuck in my head.

  • I agree with inpherno2, there's no proof that this is real time.

  • @deathgrindcheese Yeah, except the camera is is obviously handheld and that little bit of camera shake would be very difficult to create while filming a stop-motion video.

  • @roarshackdotcom lol you must be new here.

  • @roarshackdotcom more difficult that creating fast refreshing eInk?

  • @deathgrindcheese @fruitflyproductions Oh, god. Fucking forget I said anything. Damn teenagers think they know everything.

  • @roarshackdotcom Haha.

  • Nice stop-motion video

  • @inpherno2 your realy stupid aint you? the movie isnt stop motion as u can see. and if the ereader was doing stop motion, it would be constantly clearing the screen. >_>

  • @inpherno2 I was thinking the same thing. As much as I want to believe they can do with with e-ink, this looks to me like a stop motion video.

  • Yeah, how exactly does this work?

  • Wow, they fixed ghosting ._.
