Great they outlawed it but I'm so annoyed that they only outlawed horse slaughter and not all the other forms of slaughter! I'm scared of how illogical & hypocritical the US government were. They outlaw horse slaughter but seemingly they do not support outlawing pig slaughter, cow slaughter, chicken slaughter, exc. Seems they literally gave horses rights to not be slaughtered cause they find them more ATTRACTIVE! So annoying that supposedly highly intelligent people would judge rights by looks

This is awful. Can humans not treat these trusty animals that would do anything for us? It's disgusting that humans would do something like this to any animal. Do they have no hearts? Please show your support and help these poor animals that can't do anything - they are depending on us! It's amazing how i can go and see my horse and then watch this video and see that we live in the same world.

It's almost Halloween time and so many theme parks are holding "scary mazes", some including a fake human slaughterhouse. When I think of going into that maze, horrified at the realistic but still FAKE displays of the way corpses and the ways they are slaughtered, I can't help but think of the animals that actually go through this in REALITY. First we need to control the breeding practices of the racing industry, and the specialty breeders (look in the back of any horse magazine, or online)....all horses breeders need some kind of VERY strict breeding regulation, and MUST be responsible for personally rehoming their unwanted/excess horses, or humanely euthanizing. Everyone needs to do the right thing! Yes, we horse owners TOO.....

Start at the beginning, and the slaughter of excess horses will trickle to a crawl.

I hope America passes this law...it would help to put an end to the horrible slaughter practices in Canada & Mexico! Horse owners need to be responsible & if an animals is sick or can not be re-homed for what-ever reason...they should be put down in a humane way (preferably where they live). I align with HSUS on this, though they are currently against creating a No Kill Nation for our companion animals, & I would simply add that this same Congress allows the Bureau of Land Massacre, I mean Management, to send wild horses off to slaughter & are run to death by contractor helicopters as they are ruthlessly removed from THEIR & OUR lands for BLM corporate masters.

@Schyntful do you know why horse slaughter and equine meat was banned for human consumption in America? It was banned for health and saftey reasons. Most horses in America were and still are treated with Bute. Once a horse consumesBute it does not leave the horses system and it does effect the meat. People were getting sick because they were consuming horse meat with traces of bute. Go to maplite.org they list the horse orgs who support this bill. Just type in bill# on site.

You know... it's because of short-sighted laws that made horse slaughter illegal in this country is what led to them being shipped and slaughtered that way. Fun fact is that, NO horse organization actually supported that law, but blind animal lovers did. And now the same people are trying to clean up this mess in consequence from their previous actions. But don't get me wrong, I don't want to see them slaughtered horribly or be treated cruelly, but things need planning and thinking through.
