Tycobb2010: Is there any way that you could upload the album version of "You know Like I Know"? The bridge of "na-nas" is twice as long as the single version and twice as beautiful for it.
I like to hear the story about these men and I love this band, the album, and the music, but the stories told here about the fate of these men sounds like major BS hype to me. If you can cite a news article, maybe I will believe it.
@pennlibrary you can buy the book Supe wrote called "It Shined" the saga of the Ozark Mountain Daredevils. Supe goes into detail about how they would stop by when the were in the Studio..( building out back of Supes farm ) and Roscoe would break out his Harmonica. He told how they went to get pictures of the Mules and ended up with this shot, and told exactly what they were given for this picture which amounted to a shotgun and a chainsaw and a framed copy of the picture.
This is cool! I lived in Boaz, once in awhile if I was home, Roscoe and Clarence came by in their wagon pulled by those mules. On occasion they would stop and ask me to read their mail to them, neither of them could read.
Im 22 years old and I love this music. I think its a shame that alot of people of my generation have no appreciation for this because this is real talent and proof you can make a great sound without technology
Years later, 3 men broke into their cabin to rob them for the vast sum of money they supposedly received for the photo, and Clarence died as a result of the brutal beating they both took. Roscoe was left unable to care for himself, and lived out his days in a retirement home.
@MrMikehoncho44 It's sad to know this and more sad to think anyone would harm these men for an imagined treasure. I hope they were caught and prosecuted to the fullest extent.
The men on the album cover are Clarence & Roscoe Jones. The picture was taken in June 1976. Clarence Jones was the father. Roscoe his son is the one on the right. I used to see Clarence & Roscoe at my uncles store in Boaz MO. & they always traveled by mule drawn wagon & lived very simple lives, they truly were men from earth. Rumor has it that they recieved $100 each to appear on the album cover. I was always excited to see Roscoe & Clarence when I was a youngster because they were "famous"
@Stomperofpuppies They got a shotgun, a chainsaw and a original copy of the photo. Supe and the photographer went to there farm to shoot pictures of the mules, they asked them to step in front for a few pics and this is what they got
@jdl22000 I heard that also & several other combinations of payment & actually the store was at Union City but Boaz, Union City, & Possum Trot are all right there together
YES YES YES I DON'T GIVE A damned who published it but it is america at it is it's best
