I went to a live Metallica concert in march.......he used a 5-String Bass for those songs....

That he dose, I saw them in February. But he doesn't play the B to my knowledge. A lot of bass players use the B and like the feel of resting on it when not using it, I think that's his case. Newstead did it too.
