  • This video was uploaded in 2010. I hope he has actually learned to paint by now.

  • 'Stop right now before you screw it up' like Hitler saying 'I'd better stop now, I don't want to appear a racist'

  • Although I also paint, I am by no stretch of the imagination an expert.

I was truly enjoying this painting until, I feel, you over worked it.

The first scratches through the black paint looked very cool with the red finger tips at the top of each scratch.

The first scratches through the splash of yellow paint looked awesome.

The finished painting was still a very nice piece.

    Peace.

  • @NYCity99 ... thanks nyc ... i probably paint over must my stuff ... 3 to 20 times ... u normally just see layers i liked ... i think a lot ... about not to painting over something that is good ... but basically my problem with leaving a painting "good" is it's like i don't know if it could have been great. Also i would run out of space if i didn't paint over my work.

  • You're welcome Pat. I liked your style of painting so much that as soon as time allows and if it's okay by you, I am going to hang a sheet up somewhere outside my home and give your method a go.

I usually paint with oils so I am not sure how much I want to stick my hands in them. I will see if I can pick up some cheap acrylics or water colors so putting my hands in them won't be a problem.

Please stop by and give your honest opinion about my works. I'd enjoy knowing what you think.

    Peace.

  • @NYCity99 look at the video i did that has the name called "totem, ..." It's in oils ... and is non-toxic. i used linseed oil mixed with old school ground pigments which are non-toxic. I also use ochre's - i do have problems with really bright non-toxic white pigments though. But the red and yellow ochre's are great colors for this type of thing ... also have been used thousands of years ... is perfect for hand based painting.

  • @patrickfaithart: Thanks for all that info. It looks like I have some research to do.

Or, in my usual method, dive right in and learn as I go.

    Peace.

  • @NYCity99 I took a ride to the local art supply store to price pigments.

They are, to me, expensive. But that didn't stop me from attempting to

paint with my hands in some way.

Yesterday, I popped on rubber gloves and did a finger painting with oils.

    It's called, The Copse.

I like the results and so did my daughter who is my harshest critic.

    Peace.

  • @NYCity99 i agree. the first scratches through the yellow. loved it.

  • @NYCity99 I agree with NYCity on this one. I loved the yellow. it looked electric!. lightning like.I tend to over do a lot of my own so I know what Patric means here. I really like the texture that's left with this one and with the many, many hand prints on your 'people' piece.

Black, Red, and Yellow. 3 beautiful colors when laid out together, not mixed. great job Patrick

  • @NYCity99 i also overdue my paintings a lot because i also dont know if i could do it better and then i end up screwing up my best painting but i really like how you use your hands to pain it and the different tecniques you use such as scratching the pain. it gives me inspiration :)

  • Dark and bloody , like the American heart.

  • Nice!

  • Buddy....you forgot the freaking brushes!!!! Now your hands are all messed up. You must of got "hell" when you were a kid?

  • @DJSHADDY2K7

I didn't do that as a kid. I guess I was weird or scared I would get my arse smacked for messing up the place. It's too bad I probably could have been a genius. Could be why I enjoy watching others paint though :-).

  • @fuzonacid Hay i sorry About lol at what you said as a comment i never did or paint like the one you did may i should sit my behind down and try paint with my hand it may set my mind free.I wish you lot of luck.
