BLACKBEAT debut at a perfect time to cover HOT era, for SM, they made a big bad choice to drop these guys and go on with SHINHWA, i mean didn't Blackbeat really beat down Shinhwa in a music video. This is the only song BLACKBEAT came out with that was HOT! and damn they can dance.

The only group that has gotten anywhere near them in terms of dancing is SHINee. And funny enough Jae Won is the choreographer for Lucifer.

@DahjOkA I think Blackbeat just debuted at the wrong time. The 1st gen idol groups were breaking up at that time, and solo artists were popular then. The idol craze (and also SME) only picked up again after DBSK debuted.

It so obvious that Jaewon was a huuuuuuuuuuge influence on the current dancer boys of SM. It's like Jaewon's style was mixed with Jang Woohyuk's style, and now we have Yunho, Eunhyuk, and Taemin.

SM never intended to promote them, it was a ploy to get them to continue training the new SM artist. It was all business, Shinwa was one of many excuse SM used, but their logic is that they will make more money off the new artists than they could ever have with Blackbeat alone. What a shame, I hope they get sign by someone else and kick dirt at SM.

they're way too similar. i know they're both from sm, but i think they probably needed to be more unique to gain popularity (especially when HOT was dominating the scene.) and after they disbanded i'm sure people weren't interested in a clone group

BlackBeat was originally a dance group..it took them around five years of preparing just to release their first album, which was in 2002. They still appear in SMTown's summer albums. I've heard rumors of a new CD, seeing as they're still under contract with SMTown, but BlackBeat was in NO way an attempt at replacing HOT.
