Okay, so I downloaded this song from Napster. There's a lot of stuff going on in this song that doesn't come across on youtube. There's some interesting percussion, a cool guitar part during the first chorus, etc. Sorry youtube, sometimes your audio leaves a bit to be desired. (But don't get me wrong, I'm a BIG fan of youtube.)
Okay, I've got that off my chest...This is my new FAVORITE holiday song, period!
The vocalist is GREAT...and the song is touching without being sentimental...
@orangejuicejohnny Hi OJJohnny, I totally agree with you about the song...It's my new favorite holiday song as well. But I do want to address the audio quality issue. If someone submits a video that is somewhat lacking in audio qualiity, there's nothing youtube can do about. Surf youtube enough, and you'll find CD quality videos, some that are barely audible, and a lot that fall somewhere inbetween the two ends of the spectrum. It's not all youtube's fault...
Hi... this is really a spirit of christmas song... thanks for your warm n nice comment in my christmas cover song. Your singing is very warm and bring peace. Merry Christmast to you too
If you're like me, and you love this song, you will truly dig Al Jarreau's version of The Christmas Song (Chestnuts)...( I hope I spelled Al's last name right! I am a #$&*@!! speller))
What a GREAT holiday song! I really captures the mood of the holidays. It brought back a flood of holiday childhhod memories... My eyes got misty as I listen to it...Thanks for sharing this song!
@chilisaucemaker You are so right!!! I listen to the words and all of a sudden there are so many holiday images popping into my mind...caroling, Santa, church with its big organ...friends...
This song really touches me! Another song that touches my heart is Grown Up Christmas List. I love the holiday season, and all the wonderful music...
John Starley Allen: Bro, your song is destined to be a CLASSIC! Dig!!!
Youtubers: please post more music by Allen. Pahleez!
Everybody: During this holiday season, let's recommit to peace over war, love over hatred, giving over selfishness...in other words, to follow the path set by the Prince of Peace.
Oh, wow...! This song makes me tear up...Thanks to youtube for making me aware of this great song. Got my own copy on Napster and I'll be listening to it (and, I suppose, tearing up) throughout the holiday season...Another great retro song I found on youtube is Don't Take Your Time by the Match.
You're right, fahgetaboutitpeaceou, the singer sounds very much like the late great Harry Nilsson whose wonderful music was featured in You've Got Mail.
Oh "come" now, come1619. This song is more than "alright." And I can prove it! 1. It made me cry. 2. It brought back Christmas memories. 3. Beautiful melody. 4. Beautiful words. 5. Great recording (wonderful vocal performance, great arrangement). I could go on, but let's just leave it at those 5 reasons.
Oh, well...there are some people who think chocolate ice cream is just "alright" what are you going to do?
Merry Christmas everybody (including you too, come 1619)
But come on, Forgetaboutitpeaceou, Paul Williams?!? No way. That's an insult to the singer of this great x-mas tune. Now don't get me wrong. I'm a Paul Williams fan. But even Paul himself would admit that he's not a great singer. I will say this: Williams is arguably one of the greatest living American composers...but a singer he is NOT!
Don't get mad, Forgetaboutitpeaceou. You got your opinion, I got mine. The singer sounds like Harry Nilsson.
This song is so heart warming and touches my heart!!! Listening to this song helps me remember my priorities and what really matters in life. There are so many joys of the season and this song brings everything together. Thanks for sharing your talents with us!!!
WHAT A SONG!!! This is one of my top 3 x-mas songs. 1. Chesnuts 2. White Christmas 3. The Spirit of Christmas
Digg!!!! bigbadcaleb and seekingthelight: re: your viewpoints--fahgetaboutit! No way. The singer sounds like Paul Williams. You know I'm right! Amen. Peace Out!
Wow!!!!! that is all i can say!! i love this song because it was written from the heart, and expresses the true meaning of Christmas. This song inspires me to be a better person, and to look for ways to share the spirit of Christmas to those around me.
I just downloaded a crystal clear version of this song from Napster. Sorry, Stanforthehollow, but the audio quality of your video leaves just a bit to be desired. The pic is great, though. And I beg to differ with you, Seekingthelight, but I think the singer sounds more like Manilow than Cole. Maybe it's just me.
One thing we can ALL agree on: this song is great! I can't get it out of my mind! It reminds me of White Christmas. Thanks for sharing it, Stanfromthhollow. Merry Christmas!
This is my new FAVORITE Christmas song! Thanks for sharing it!!!
Have a GREAT New Year!!!
