The defense wouldnt allow them to be crossed examined and thusly the appeals court denied him a re-trial. I'm personally against the death penalty but this case the court act appropriately.

According to the gov own statisitcs, 97% of all federal revenue comes from from the upper half of society. The poor are taxed very little. A flat tax would mean the poor would actually pay taxes, hence revenue increases substantially. Moreover, the rich are already taxed high enough. Government spends to much and usually wastes that money. Just because the gov wants to spend more, does not mean the rich aren't paying their fair share. Besides, raising taxes slowes gdp growth, not what we need.

They don't pay federal income taxes because their income is less than 24K a year. Those 50% consist of the elderly that collect less than 12K a year from SS, teens, unemployed, disabled, and students. another reason why it is 50% is because of the child tax credit and earned income credit which was all republican bills.

Most of the rich would have a dollar salary and get the rest of their pay in bonuses and stock options which they would not pay any taxes on. The ARE NOT taxed high enough. They made their money by using the infrastructure that the rest of us built and maintained and by using the services that the rest of us pay for.

Most of the answers to your questions are the state and corporations. Corporations do pay for technical training as well as business related courses. Protection of property is paid for by the state. The government can also sieze your property through eminent domain. Roads can be privatly built, meaning you pay tolls for using them, and not for people using them in another state.
It's a simple concept though, raising taxes slows economic growth, it's often used to control inflation.

You guys are all idiots. The income tax is progressive and the reason capital gains tax is low is because there is risk involved in investing and a higher return on the principle is not guaranteed. #2 Claiming the letters should be enough but i think its completely logical to want to cross examine the "recanted" witness's. The defense wouldnt allow them to be crossed examined and thusly the appeals court denied him a re-trial. I'm personally against the death penalty but this case the court act appropriately.

According to the gov own statisitcs, 97% of all federal revenue comes from from the upper half of society. The poor are taxed very little. A flat tax would mean the poor would actually pay taxes, hence revenue increases substantially. Moreover, the rich are already taxed high enough. Government spends to much and usually wastes that money. Just because the gov wants to spend more, does not mean the rich aren't paying their fair share. Besides, raising taxes slowes gdp growth, not what we need.

@groam6666 you are full of shit! it is the bottom 50% that don't pay FEDERAL INCOME taxes. They still pay sales, state income, gas, property, and payroll taxes. They don't pay federal income taxes because their income is less than 24K a year. Those 50% consist of the elderly that collect less than 12K a year from SS, teens, unemployed, disabled, and students. another reason why it is 50% is because of the child tax credit and earned income credit which was all republican bills.

@groam6666 The poor pay a higher tax rate as a percentage of their income than any other tax bracket. A flat tax would mean the rich pay NO taxes. Most of the rich would have a dollar salary and get the rest of their pay in bonuses and stock options which they would not pay any taxes on. The ARE NOT taxed high enough. They made their money by using the infrastructure that the rest of us built and maintained and by using the services that the rest of us pay for.

Most of the answers to your questions are the state and corporations. Corporations do pay for technical training as well as business related courses. Protection of property is paid for by the state. The government can also sieze your property through eminent domain. Roads can be privatly built, meaning you pay tolls for using them, and not for people using them in another state.
It's a simple concept though, raising taxes slows economic growth, it's often used to control inflation.

To put the protest in context -
There were objections in NY state when it was decided to spend $1.5 BILLION DOLLARS on a new Yankee Stadium - the most by far that has ever been spent on a baseball stadium - because the citizens of the city & state will be paying for it for many years.
Meanwhile,1 man on Wall Street made $8 BILLION DOLLARS over a 2 yr period -- enough to pay for the stadium w/ a ton of money left over.
And yet he pays a 15% tax rate - LOWER THAN MOST POSTING HERE

It takes criminal ignorance of the facts to blame the finance sector. The financial sector is soaked in government regulation to the extent that the financial sector is pseudo-governmental. If regulation is so great why didn't it work? Why were hedge funds consisting of three people able to see what the SEC could not? Why did federally established risk measures and cash ratios not offer security? Why did FNMA, FMAC need massive bailouts? They are afterall 100% governmental entities.
