Wow. I get a mental picture of a guitar player walking away from a smoking, burned out carcass of a spent and ruined guitar after playing like that. Gary knew how to wring every drop of emotion out of a piece of music. RIP Gary.
@2Edie8 I have several dvd's of Gary's & in one he plays what looks to be this very Strat on every song but the last two which he uses a Les Paul. On another dvd Gary starts out with a Gibson ES-335 & I was surprised how much he sounded like B. B. King on "Need Your Love So Bad". Then Gary plays a Les Paul on one song & the last ones he uses a black Strat with a tremolo bar & goes wild with it on "Out in the Fields" in true Hendrix fashion. My other dvd's Gary is on a Les Paul only.
I don't like youtube arguments, so sometimes I try to have youtube conversations. Which other people interpret as wanting to argue. smh, sometimes it's just nice to talk about music.

I watched this on tv and he simply blew every other guitar player that performed right out of the water, his intensity was way beyond anyone that showed up for the gig that night....
holy shit this is this 1st i had seen Gary's version of this song..im am BLOWN away..ok Jimi and SRV are soooooo jamming to this...its so awesome..love the Srat too only a Strat can jam like that....R.I.P. Mr. Gary Moore
@snyper105 I think it's a marshall stack. You will struggle to get a similar tone because it's the valve amp cranked up full, so he gets his crunchy tone with the volume pot on full, and he simply rolls it back to get the crisp clean tone back... Great sound, I've been trying to get it for ages myself! And that's the conclusion I have come to!
@snyper105 Les paul(Burstbuckers/seth lover) - bb preamp gain -10 - cusck screamer gain-10 v2(Tubescreamer) - Bright reverb - Little bit of delay 250 bpm - Marshall 2204 low input ( presence -10 bass - 5 middle -10 treble - 8 master - 7 - preamp - slight breakup. Thats about as good as it gets for me. Tone is in the hands. no one can get his tone. :)
GAry Moore what a great loss as a guitarist and singer., It made me sad when i heard he died probably one of the best irish guitarists up there with rory gallagher both left us to soon
saw this show on televison last week..and I am always in awe at his mastering of the guitar.. IMHO, although not one of the best looking musicians, he was and always will be one of the best to ever pass this way.
@hungerstriker27 LP tone is always there when run through a Marshall like Gary did. With this old Strat, he just turned the volume wide open probably with the old coil pickup closest to the fret board, uped all knobs on his Marshall a bit and just and just played the hell out of it. That is my take on how he got that old Fender to sound like that! I won't say Moore is better than Clapton, Beck, Gilmore etc but they are certainly not better than him. Just different styles.
This is my 5th time watching this. Back to back. Not only because it is THE best cover of this song I have EVER heard, but I'm trying to look for some reason 7 people would dislike this... and I'm stumped. Maybe theres people who it would just pain their heart to not be hateful. I tip my hat to Mr. Gary Moore and strive to play with just 1/2 of the heart he put into this.
Sure he could play, i guess he also was good at jerking off. Every taste is different, some people thinks gary moore was overrated and had a very strong resemblence to a animal that we all call *a pig*..when he was playing. I am one of those people.. Cheers
@vyfelz Who care about what he look when he's playing or if he's over or under rated... He just play, and play well, so learn to enjoy music for what she is and not for who's playing...
@vyfelz Thats whats wrong with the world; Prejudice. Its a shame that people have to be so judgemental and then pick on people with different opinions because their so damn insecure. If you dont like it, stay away!
