  • I love this game!, even now... This was 1 of the 3 best sword&shield games of NES, with Zelda 2 and Faxanadu. Awesome games. How I miss that kind of creative, involving and fun gamplay!.

  • i would give my life by this game lol nah, im a zelda fan too (ocarina of time majoras mask etc) and this is not a copy of any gameboy/nes zelda, like told the mate... its similarly (princess to be rescued.. like in mario bros or much other games, etc etc) but zelda its not based on mythological creatures talking bout enemies... theres the point ,and it is 2 wonderful stories totally different... believe me.

  • All my childhood...

Pelopponesus song, argolis, crete, phtya, phrygia omg omg omg

    back to the past.

  • does anyone know if any part of this soundtrack is based on actual Greek music?

  • I think, of all games out there, this one made me ragequit the most..

And man.. the olives >.< The hours spent on collecting those damn olives xD

  • 05:20 He's the reason the dodos are extinct

  • best videogame soundtrack ever made, inspires still. Only the music of the original megaman games come close.

  • My favorite NES game, with my favorite game soundtrack of all time.

It really captures the mythical feel of the game, and ther use of Bach's "Toaccata and Fugue" is brilliant.

    Thanks for posting!

  • Zelda 2 ripoff... sorry but I consider myself one of the greatest Zelda fans and I can tell you, this game IS NOT a rip off from Zelda 2. This game is much, much, much better... start with music, followed by story, gameplay and duration.

  • 4:19 toccata by Johann Sebastian Bach

  • Broderbund published some incredible NES games back in the day... This, along with The Guardian Legend, Legacy of the Wizard, and don't laugh... but they published Deadly Towers, too. I owned all of these games and all of them were good to varying degrees. TGL was definitely my favorite.

  • This game is faaaaaar better than Zelda 2.

Played both and BoO is superior in every aspect.

  • It's interesting how the two games most people consider zelda clones (this and crystalis) are the two best games on the NES...

  • The battle of olympus is 100 times better the Zelda 2...

I don't understand how anyone can even compare them to each other..

    And the game music rocks!

  • 1:37 = Bun B - Trillionaire

  • how is it so great quality in the game ?

  • Battle of Olympus is a Zelda 2 clone but the people who made the text for this game knew how to write coherent sentences and were not hesitant to use as much text as needed. Hell, this game is way better than any Zelda game, The locations you are supposed to go to are not impossible to find without a strategy guide, the game is challenges without being horrendously difficult, and the graphics are much more expressive and imaginative than the NES Zelda games. All in all, a brilliant game.

  • the section from 2:10 is the best

  • This game was not easy, and it wasn't uncommon to get lost... But still, it was a pretty amazing game with an unforgettable soundtrack.

  • nice classical feel to most of it, some cheesy

  • this is like Zelda II and Kid Icarus fusion... looks nice

  • 0:10 You wrote 1998, Garudoh.

  • Broderbund Software. Christ, now my brain is imploding.

I disliked Zelda II back in the day, but loved Faxanadu, so this game was oddly in the middle for me. It does sport some sweet chiptunes though.

  • It's Zelda 2 with a Greek theme

  • My older bro got this game as a gift ages ago, and it's a gooder! But, wow, the save code is ridiculous. I never beat this game just b/c of that; I'd always misinterpret the code. Not sure how long it is from start to finish, but that's how I'd recommend playing it, if at all possible. If it comes out for VC, I'm SO getting it!

Awesome music, and Link could never walk on the ceiling - this guy could! Got some pretty cool weapons/items later on. Gotta love games that R kinda like metroid

  • This game looks awfully familiar. :P

  • That guy even fails at killing caterpillars. xD

  • One of my favorite games ever! Thanks for posting!

  • Well this doesn't remind me of Zelda 2 The Adventure of Link in ANY way at all...

  • Hey , look it's link ! ... oh , wait ...

  • Those bouncing devils with animal legs used to scare the crap out of me.

  • Looks more like Hyrule than Geece, lol

  • i wonder if this game was god of war inspired. haha i think so get it " battle of Olympus"

  • good stuff

  • Holy crud, this game looks balls to the wall hard.

  • Somebody needs to remix that Name Entry theme at 1:36

    ...and it shall be ME!

  • @TheWingless

Someone did a really awesome remix of the name-entry theme with the Pegasus riding theme, called "Battle of Olympus-Ride on Pegasus and Enter Name".

    No, it wasn't me sadly.

  • Not broken mechanics. The tree worm things are too low to hit, you have to hit them when they jump or fall. It's annoying on purpose.

  • Well, the game is atrocious on the actuel NES, but on emulator, it's actually fun because of the save states. I suggest you try it

  • Comment removed

  • @vlad48329reborn I'm not even sure what you mean. Lot's of games have creatures that are too low to strike and must use certain strategies to defeat. later on you get a fire wand that can easily kill them.

  • Frustrating as Hell video game (I don't like games where getting hit bounces you all around the place), but a PHENOMENAL soundtrack, in my opinion.

  • Whoa!!! omg...didn't know this game was like this!

I Really loved zelda 2, and this game has really big similarities to it.....now I'm gonna go and get this and play :)

  • 1:22 i was laughing so hard! lol

  • This was one of the more challenging games I finished as a kid...

  • This is one of my favourate all time NES games. I eventually completed it and enjoyed every minute. Some may say zelda 2 clone but then same could be said for castlevania 2 which certainly wasn't a patch on this game. I learnt a fair bit about greek mythology from this game!

  • wow, what a total 'legend of zelda 2: the adventures of link' rip-off......the music is okay though

  • How is it a Zelda 2 ripoff?

I mean, sure, it plays similarly.

But if you start to think like that, then every FPS would be a Doom clone, or every classic JRPG would be a Dragon Quest clone.

Face it: Most games take inspiration from another game, or even straight-out copy some elements.

  • @Cyril86 personally, i dunno if this game is a Zelda ripoff persay, but it is the same engine.. also, Doom is a Wolfenstein clone so every FPS would b a Wolfenstein clone not a Doom clone.. i know.. ima dick

  • @Cyril86 Totally agree. This is one of the best NES titles ever made. I cannot say that about Zelda 2. Although Zelda 2 was pretty bad ass, it's not in this class. This game belongs with the Mega Man 2's, Mario 3's, Tetris's and Mike Tyson's Punch Out's.

  • @Cyril86 Yes we know, but this game was released some years after. Besides the last boss is a shadow.

  • @Cyril86 Right on. Like saying that Dragon Quest copied off of D&D, or that D&D copied off of Lord of the Rings. Everything comes from something...

  • @MoonspiderHugs it's actually better than that game though.

  • sounds like FFA for the Gameboy.
