I love this video you show how to hold the yarn. Thanks to you, I can hold the yarn in my left hand. As I followed the video, I hold to yarn in my left hand showing the different methods demonstrated. Thanks.
I like the way you hold the yarn but you move a little to fast, I have a question how you're demonstrating is that just purl knitting? How do you do both cause it all looks like purl knitting it's confusing could you please go little slower? Thank you !!
I notice that you are knitting through the BACK LOOP... and that is not quite correct. There is a reason to do it that way, but that is not the proper way to do a knit stitch. It is wrong to show people that this is the correct way to knit, because they don't know better and will learn it the wrong way. Then they will have to un-learn it and re-learn the proper way.
@Tallguy403 It's not "wrong," actually, it's Eastern crossed knitting. But you're right, it does produce a twisted stitch. There are videos here showing Eastern uncrossed style, where the yarn goes over the needle instead of under, producing a non-twisted stitch. Lots of styles out there!
This is not necessary the faster or fastest way. The secret of fast knitting depends on the knitter how comfortable she is with the needle and yarn that create a 'flow' while knitting. The balance is in the co-ordination. Watch Miriam Tegels how she knits, the fastest knitter in the world I think.
The knit stitch does not work from the back loop. It'sfrom the front unless specified in the instruction. Take care.
@isadella28 - I knit and purl through the back loop. It's true Eastern European style. I've been knitting that way for a a year. It's faster than American / English or Continental. I've tried Peruvian, too, but that was a little awkward. I've tried Portuguese as well, and can purl just fine, but the knit stitches are a little tight.
We all learn how to knit somewhere between the age of 10 and 12 in Norway. The style we learn is similar to this one, but even more fluent, often you don't even have to involve the right index finger in most stitches. This has to do with the angle of the yarn coming from the left index finger .Additionally, if you explore the possibilities of knitting into the back or front of the loop, you'll discover you can knit the very same stitch in many different ways, and you can pick the fastest.
This is continental style but you're right it is alot faster than throwing and that is how I was taught. I wish I had learned to knit this way before.
She is knitting in the combined method. This results in the stitches being oriented differently on the needle. The leading leg of the stitch is in the back as opposed to in the front which most are used to seeing.
Wow I can definitely see the difference of it being so much faster. I have seen pictures that explained this method but this video made it really clear. Thanks for the video, I am practicing on my needles right now!
I can't keep the yarn from falling off the needle when pulling it through the stitches... any tips?

I knit continental but I wrap the yarn around my pinky and keep my index very close to the needle and it works just fine for me.

That is Continental however you are knitting through the back loop of every stitch. I'm not sure how that would affect a project.
