Let me ask you something. If he killed a past version of himself, he wouldn't exist, right? But since he doesn't exist, he never would have been able to travel back in time. Thus, he did not kill himself, therefore, he still exists. And since he exists, he has the possibility of going back in time and killing a past version of himself.

@Thek213 The timeline still goes on though. He can develop suicidal tendencies later on in life and head back to kill his past self. While its impossible for a person to come from the future when they just died, the timeline would still go on altered.
