I always preferred this series to Evangelion. Of course, one would take some amount of flack for such heresy. To some people, it was like daring to say you enjoyed Stargate Universe, or the 4th Indiana Jones movie (which I did, as a matter of fact)....!
Honestly, I found that most of the similarities to eva were highly superficial. The characters were not as obnoxiously horrible people for one, and the plot held more interest for me.People say that eva explained everything just didn't make it obvious. For a work to be enjoyable a writer should give the readers something to hold, some way to get a handle on the story. If a large number of people are lost by the story, that is not a sign of brilliant work. Its a sign of bad, convoluted writing.
@johnj1027 It'd probably be a bit simpler if you were to just say that you don't understand Evangelion. After having seen both this and Evangelion, both had an subliminal message that took a while to understand. Whereas Rahxephon was a bit easier to catch and cling to, Evangelion had a depth that kept you wondering (hence the movies). I think the writers of the series purposely left a gap at the end of the series to send the groundwork for the movies that followed after.
i can't see the difference between the japanese uncensored version verse the english version, what was cut out exactly in the series????????????????????????
i just love the dolem concertto, my favorite ones are falsetto and fortissimo, i'm soo glad i have the full series in dvd, i would not change it for anything else, it is between my favorites with erementar gelade and scryed
For once, I think TVTropes did a really good job contrasting this series:
"Where Evangelion is about dysfunction and despair cloaked in Kaballah and Judeo-Christian religion, RahXephon is about transcendence and revelation, blending musical imagery and Mayan lore to produce a result that is thematically the total opposite to the bleakness of Evangelion's climax."
@beenznrice31 I thought that is was a dumbed down evangelion to. because the evil people/dolems have Blue blood just like the angels.the main Character is semi insecure and must "re-tune" the world or something like that and they are fighting things that can only be killed by what they are. The things the good guys pilot are dolems and the thing the evas are essentially giant humans which are one of the 18 angels.
@thedictatorfan The world was created by song, and must be re-tuned because someone long ago destroyed the balance, and he is the puppet-master working behind the scenes to create the instrument and the instrumentalist. The "robots" are made of clay and attached to dimensional outcasts who are fighting to tune the world in their own way.
There are many similarities, but there are as many differences. Thematically, they both come to polarizing conclusions, and each has its own message.
When the The Dolem 'Allegretto' fires it's weapon from the halo and hit's the skyscraper. The damage done looks like the World Trade Center. This did come out September 2002 one year after 9/11.I believe they saw what the damage looked like in real life and duplicated the look.I like Eva and Rah but Eva is Epic! The hole concept and story makes Avatar,Transformers and everything Hollywood makes seem childish.
You know, this looks a lot like it could've been in Shin Megami Tensei. The character design and stuff makes me think that. I don't know much about the story, but what I've heard makes it seem enough of a fit I guess.
the comparisons of rahxephone and evangalion are many though eva was the last fully hand drawn mecha anime, and rah was the first all digital drawn anime, they both have hiden meanings and use myths from differant cultures to tell the story like the bible and angels with eva, or the norse, aztec, mayan, and japanese with rah, but if you want to compar something to rahxephone pick aquarion the anime, it even looks a bit close to the designs since it was from the same studio bones.
This isn't even remotely similar to Evagelion besides (somewhat) the mecha design. If this ripped Evangelion off then Evangelion ripped off 2001: A Space Oddyssey with its Human Instrumentality plot.
Yea this was one of those animes I watched without trying to understand everything.. It didn't fuck up my mind as much as Evangelion, but it was still weird..
To this day I still don't understand the plot of this anime :D I was expecting it be a conventional mecha good vs evil kind of anime, but it isn't so, so I was very confused.
I love this anime, beautiful in every way. The music and animation are just so gorgeous!!! xD Get goosebumps every time I listen to the theme and end song!
Why does evangelion have to come up in every rahxephon related video. Sure, they are pretty similar but also very different. Each have their own unique character development, story lines. It's pointless to even decide which one is better.
at 0.41...the whole opening becomes epic. It is that beat that starts playing. God dammit, I have to watch the whole opening again just so that part gets the proper build up. Best opening ever!
I've watched both eva and rah xephon and I must say that I liked both of them. I ended up completely confused and bewildered at their conclusions, but I liked them. lol

"Sing RahXephon. Sing the forbidden song. So that one day everything can be one." "Sing Raideen. Sing the forbidden song. So that one day land may have eternal light." ?
@YamashitaTsubasa Giant robots fighting god like entities while the protagonist angsts over his sense of self while surrounded by a number of potential love interests... I'm not saying the two series are alike, but there is grounds for comparison.
@TheLordmep "There's no such thing as original thought anymore. We're all just regurgitating the same old ideas over and over again, boiling them down to a giant melting pot of mediocrity"
@TheLordmep I don't think anyone can deny that there are similarities between this and Evangelion, but let me suggest some advantages of this show over the original Evangelion (not talking about the rebuild here): the premise is less nihilistic, the characters are not quite as emotionally disturbed, it doesn't have the huge plothole of the inexplicable "destined children" (the instrumentalists in Rahxephon are born that way), and Ayato Kamina is a better protagonist than Shinji Ikari.
@deathgoddragon3698 The said "plot hole" was part cover, part lie. There was nothing really special about the last generation of humans. The people in Shinji's class were "chosen" because the Evangelions required a "human component" to accept the human pilots (and the AT Field thing) and, allegedly, at least a number of the children in the class had parents who worked for NERV and could be "used" in case that child were called to pilot.
@deathgoddragon3698 Admittedly, Ayato was around better people. Shinji was surrounded by the worst possible crowd, and that was entirely instrumented by Gendo. Ayato would have probably turned into Shinji v2 if he had stayed in Tokyo Jupiter, IMO. Instead, he was given enough breathing room to grow up, episode 18 and the thing with Asahina notwithstanding.
@YamashitaTsubasa Just because people compare it to Evangelion doesn't make the series any less good. Besides, shouldn't people see it as a complament?
@ronnor001 i agree with that , NGE is one of the most memorable animes or the most popular animes ever made, so If Rahxephon gets compared with it , means t stands on such a high level :)
@YamashitaTsubasa evangelion is for faggots anyways so knoch it the fuck off as yamashita says or ryumeiji will make a personal visit t oyour house and smack descency into your head!
@YamashitaTsubasa Speaking as someone who loves both Rahxephon and Eva? Is is completely legitimate to compare the two there are a ton of similarities between the two animes. I wouldn't say one or the other ripped the other off as much as I would say they "inspire" one another.
@ShiranaiSonzaisha No, really, if you think there's any significant comparisons or grounds for "inspiration" then Rah and Eva must be the only two mech anime you've seen. The only one I would actually call out is the use of Robert Browning.
@Jesyce86 but eva is better... at being a miserable, unwatchabe, wangsty, endingless piece of crap. Respect what EVA did for the medium but when watched with today's standards, it's crap.
The opening for RahXephon was one of the best I've seen in anime, it fitted the series very well. I didn't much like the series itself, I didn't like the characters very much and I thought the story was a bit messy, but that's just me.
all i can say is, don't miss an episode... the first time i saw it, i must've missed something, because the ending happened.. and i was like "what... the hell... just happened????"
Evangelion and Rahxephon are interesting since the two ARE very similar, however they are ultimately different through what they succeed and fail at.
Evangelion succeeds in being one of the greatest mindfucks in anime, while Rahxephon succeeds in being one of the greatest romantic animes ever.
Evangelion fails at incorporating enough human elements into it's series, resulting in characters that are impossible to relate to, while Rahxephon fails at being a psychological mindfuck ala Eva.
@mk741 Eva has plenty of human element... Shinji is pretty much relatable to anybody, same goes for Asuka. Not Rei though. She has nearly no personality.
No comparison between Rahxephon and Evangelion. I liked EVA, but in terms of character development and overall conceptual storyline, Rahxephon is (in my opinion) far more concise.
RAHXEPHON WAS A GOOD EVENGELION RIP OFF THE STORY MADE MORE SENSE AND THE LAST EPISODES DONT SUCK LIKE EVENGELION'S IT DOESNT MATTER IF THE RAN OUT BUDGET, THEIRS NO EXCUSE PERIOD.
@calebt1000 lol you would be surprised. It is actually pretty popular....and really REALLY wierd (yes I have seen it, no it's not a regular thing for me :) I guess anime makers gotta make that real money and porn is as big in Japan as it is in the States.
@spicychoccookies really? as someone who takes great pleasure in watching hentai/reading doujin i will tell you this hentai has no plot and low production values. So no this is not hentai it is a normal anime
The most telling difference between RahXephon and Eva is that RX is, at its core, a love story. Eva is... not. And no, Gendou wanting his wife back was not the central theme of the story, and in truth, was more like simple obsession. than love
@singularityism Considering the plot revolved around who could hump him first to take over the world, the humans or the aliens... No, Not really. (Not sure what I mean, watch the movie.)
@BlyssfulStorm i saw the movie a long time ago but neve rfinished it but i know the part that i got up to was tha the slept with some lady right. while he was imprisoned... but there was a camera in the room... and then the ppl saw she slept with him and were like o shit traitor or something
@lepthymo I'm not sure I know what scene it is, but if you mean the recurring music piece through the series (which I know plays twice as someone walks into a room where Ayato is gazing out the window), it's a piece called something like the Polovtsian Dances, from an opera named Prince Igor. I still don't understand its significance in relation to the story though.
@ApesOfBass Who the FUCK cares? RahXephon is a more mature, more interesting, and much higher quality work with more likeable characters, a better story, practically no wangst, meaningless Christian symbolism, and existential bullshit. Not to mention that despite being deep, RahXephon is COMPLETELY unpretentious, while Eva just pretends to be deep but in reality is just pretentious as all hell.
In short, RahXephon is a masterpiece, and Evangelion is garbage.
So basically you're saying it's stripped down, lifeless, not as deep, not as philosophical, not as meaningful, while using words like "wangst"? Likeable characters - HA!! There's like 17 fucking 'main' characters, so you don't have any time to get attached. Also, they have NO personality traits to speak of, well at least the main guy. Rah was pretentious as FUCK, they BLATANTLY added "philosophy" as a throwback to Eva, whereas the creator of Eva was really clinically depressed.
@ApesOfBass I meant to say that Rah has no wangst, meaningless Christian symbolism, and existential bullshit (well there is some existentialist stuff in it, but it's not completely based on it like Eva is). "Wangst" is a portmanteau of "whiny" and "angst"; which describes Shinji perfectly well.
And I lol'd at Rah being mainstream. You hipster kids love to use the word "mainstream" as an insult even when Eva is much more mainstream that Rah in terms of popularity.
Eva dealt with metaphysics and existentialism (i.e. the difference between the mind and reality, and the reason for existence) quite a bit, and to wrap your mind around the series, it forced you to think, even after the ending. Rah fans HATE this. I've seen tons of comments saying how people like Rah JUST because they couldn't understand Eva. THAT'S what makes it shallow and mainstream.
It's mainstream because it exists only as an attempt to appeal to a general audience.
@ItsSomeDeadGuy RahXephon isn't mainstream most people are like what is RahXephon? RahXephon does have some religious things in it but not Christian religion. RahXephon is actually alot about accepting and timeless romance.
@ApesOfBass You also forget how Eva blatantly added Christian symbolism, which sent viewers into a frenzy trying to find out what it meant, only for the creators to say "WE JUST ADDED IT BECAUSE IT LOOKS COOL LOLOLOL".
And the clinical depression of Hideaki Anno was what completely shattered Eva. This is why I'm actually very excited to watch the Rebuild movies: he's happily married and in a much clearer state of mind. I want to see how he approaches it now.
Cont. - Also, it's funny how you mentioned Rebuild. A lot of Eva fans don't like it nearly as much as the original because it deals a lot less with philosophy, and you don't have to think all that hard - it's mostly just an action flick. I find that funny because it ALSO appeals to a Rah fan who hated Eva because it dealt too much with philosophy.
I guess Rah fans just hate thinking deeply about things...
Cont (3rd message) - A lot of the Christian symbolism acts as an interesting metaphor, *spoiler* such as the 1st human being, Adam. And how if Eva (Eve) comes into contact Adam, a 3rd Impact is said to happen - thus starting a new world. The Biblical references make it even more interesting, and I'm sorry if that's somehow a bad thing in your world.
@ApesOfBass I didn't drop Eva because I couldn't understand it. I actually love shows that I have trouble understanding because I like to ponder and analyze them to see if I can understand it. I dropped it because of its plot flaws and unlikeable characters.
And now I'm unsure if you actually watched RahXephon. It requires you to think to understand it as well.
And I'm sorry if I'm some sort of lesser being for not sharing your opinion. I guess I'll just have to live with that, now won't I?
@ApesOfBass The Biblical references aren't a bad thing, it's just that for the creators admit that they mean nothing... it's like a slap in the face.
Okay, I really hate using others' opinions in debates, but if you really want to know how I feel about Neon Genesis Evangelion, look up JesuOtaku's video review of it. I do disagree with some of her beliefs that she brings into the review in the second part, but in terms of why I hate the show yet love its good points, she nailed it.
@ItsSomeDeadGuy Bibical refrences..are wonderful i love NGE for that. their views are wonderful and its so great that others are out there looking for awnsers as well
@keitarojohn Did you listen to anything I said? Yes, Biblical references are wonderful, but Anno outright admitted that they mean NOTHING. They just thought that it would look cool. Keep in mind that religion, especially Christianity, is considered a very "spooky" thing surrounded with intrigue in Japan, similar to the way witchcraft is here.
@ApesOfBass RahXephon isn't mainstream most people are like what is RahXephon? RahXephon does have some religious things in it but not Christian religion. RahXephon is actually alot about accepting and timeless romance. Plus Evangleion is mainstream dude everyone has heard about it and RahXephon is aunderrated thats only has refrences to Eva at the very beginning. If you understood anything RahXephon is more deep than Evangelion.
@SkyExplosion eva was mainstream in japan. you walk up to a random person in the states and unless they were "into" anime, they've never heard of it. Only anime shows that went mainstream were dbz, sailor moon, akira, studio ghibli movies, and probably ghost in the shell. Thats really it in the states. The live action eva movie was always a pipe dream o adv's that was never going to happen. I get it's big in the anime fandom, but thats not mainstream america. and you people can't support
@SkyExplosion it alone. On rahxephon, first off, I hated eva after the halfway point. It feel apart, and the movie sucked too. If you want a example of depth without being fucking obtuse for no good reason, see perfect blue. At least eva had a excuse though(hideki anno being clinically depressed or whatever.) Now, rahxephon. The show could have been good. the animation and designs were good, and I liked a few parts. But the overall story and characters? there's a little show thats a eva
@SkyExplosion rip-off that I did like, Argento Soma. Why? Because it starts out a eva rip-off, says "fuck it" half way thourgh, then does it own thing and has a interesting ending. Rahxephon was a eva rip-off. Period. From start to finish. And anything that might have been good about it is buried under that mountain of shit. obtuse for the sake of being obtuse, the overly emo characters, killing off characters for the shock value alone, etc.
@nejiblue12 Love plays a huge factor in RahXephon that Evangelion simply didn't have. The motifs about music? I must have missed those between the temper tantrums from the boy with daddy issues. There is no Shinji in RahXephon, there is no Haruka in Evangelion, no Commander Kunigi, no Elvy. You say it's an Evangelion ripoff because that's what you want to believe, when in reality, all you can do is make loose plotline connections that don't mean anything. Get out of here with that nonsense.
@SkyExplosion I really should correct you on this. your right about it having religious aspects to it. but all religions including Christianity believe in a rebirth of the earth. In Christianity it talks about eternal love which I did see in this anime. much more powerful then timeless romance.
@megaman90 Christianity is Christ comming back to save us not about the earth rebirthing schmuck. Its not you but all listen idiots its anime different culture over there and well done anime in my opinion if I am obliged. Christ would never like bickering and never believed in religion idiot if you have read the bible as it is so vague. God bless go anime!
Always enjoyed how this intro revealed one of the big twists of the series without you even realising it.

theshadowbehindme 2 months ago
@TheLordmep I don't think anyone can deny that there are similarities between this and Evangelion, but let me suggest some advantages of this show over the original Evangelion (not talking about the rebuild here): the premise is less nihilistic, the characters are not quite as emotionally disturbed, it doesn't have the huge plothole of the inexplicable "destined children" (the instrumentalists in Rahxephon are born that way), and Ayato Kamina is a better protagonist than Shinji Ikari.
deathgoddragon3698 2 months ago 14
@deathgoddragon3698 I see no grounds for disagreement.
TheLordmep 2 months ago
@deathgoddragon3698 The said "plot hole" was part cover, part lie. There was nothing really special about the last generation of humans. The people in Shinji's class were "chosen" because the Evangelions required a "human component" to accept the human pilots (and the AT Field thing) and, allegedly, at least a number of the children in the class had parents who worked for NERV and could be "used" in case that child were called to pilot.
FateJHedgehog 1 month ago
@deathgoddragon3698 Admittedly, Ayato was around better people. Shinji was surrounded by the worst possible crowd, and that was entirely instrumented by Gendo. Ayato would have probably turned into Shinji v2 if he had stayed in Tokyo Jupiter, IMO. Instead, he was given enough breathing room to grow up, episode 18 and the thing with Asahina notwithstanding.

@deathgoddragon3698 >it doesn't have the huge plothole of the inexplicable "destined children"
What does that even mean? There are reasons the children in Eva were chosen. It's just not obvious.

@DillonHungryGilligan they are chosen becausa theyr soul's mothers are in the eva and so they can syncronize better than other

@YamashitaTsubasa Just because people compare it to Evangelion doesn't make the series any less good. Besides, shouldn't people see it as a complament?
ronnor001 5 months ago
@ronnor001 i agree with that , NGE is one of the most memorable animes or the most popular animes ever made, so If Rahxephon gets compared with it , means t stands on such a high level :)

@YamashitaTsubasa Speaking as someone who loves both Rahxephon and Eva? Is is completely legitimate to compare the two there are a ton of similarities between the two animes. I wouldn't say one or the other ripped the other off as much as I would say they "inspire" one another.
ShiranaiSonzaisha 3 months ago
@ShiranaiSonzaisha No, really, if you think there's any significant comparisons or grounds for "inspiration" then Rah and Eva must be the only two mech anime you've seen. The only one I would actually call out is the use of Robert Browning.

The opening for RahXephon was one of the best I've seen in anime, it fitted the series very well. I didn't much like the series itself, I didn't like the characters very much and I thought the story was a bit messy, but that's just me.

Evangelion and Rahxephon are interesting since the two ARE very similar, however they are ultimately different through what they succeed and fail at.
Evangelion succeeds in being one of the greatest mindfucks in anime, while Rahxephon succeeds in being one of the greatest romantic animes ever.
Evangelion fails at incorporating enough human elements into it's series, resulting in characters that are impossible to relate to, while Rahxephon fails at being a psychological mindfuck ala Eva.
mk741 9 months ago 3
@mk741 Eva has plenty of human element... Shinji is pretty much relatable to anybody, same goes for Asuka. Not Rei though. She has nearly no personality.
PenileFracture 9 months ago
Meh, I liked Evangelion and Rahxephon equally. But I prefer Eureka seveN (Made by Bones, the people who made Rahxephon).
soapman222 9 months ago
No comparison between Rahxephon and Evangelion. I liked EVA, but in terms of character development and overall conceptual storyline, Rahxephon is (in my opinion) far more concise.

The opening never had enough face smashing for my taste.

The most telling difference between RahXephon and Eva is that RX is, at its core, a love story. Eva is... not. And no, Gendou wanting his wife back was not the central theme of the story, and in truth, was more like simple obsession. than love

lepthymo 1 year ago
@lepthymo I'm not sure I know what scene it is, but if you mean the recurring music piece through the series (which I know plays twice as someone walks into a room where Ayato is gazing out the window), it's a piece called something like the Polovtsian Dances, from an opera named Prince Igor. I still don't understand its significance in relation to the story though.

ApesOfBass 1 year ago
@ApesOfBass Who the FUCK cares? RahXephon is a more mature, more interesting, and much higher quality work with more likeable characters, a better story, practically no wangst, meaningless Christian symbolism, and existential bullshit. Not to mention that despite being deep, RahXephon is COMPLETELY unpretentious, while Eva just pretends to be deep but in reality is just pretentious as all hell.
In short, RahXephon is a masterpiece, and Evangelion is garbage.
ItsSomeDeadGuy 1 year ago
@ItsSomeDeadGuy
ApesOfBass 1 year ago
@ApesOfBass I meant to say that Rah has no wangst, meaningless Christian symbolism, and existential bullshit (well there is some existentialist stuff in it, but it's not completely based on it like Eva is). "Wangst" is a portmanteau of "whiny" and "angst"; which describes Shinji perfectly well.
And I lol'd at Rah being mainstream. You hipster kids love to use the word "mainstream" as an insult even when Eva is much more mainstream that Rah in terms of popularity.
ItsSomeDeadGuy 1 year ago
@ItsSomeDeadGuy
ApesOfBass 1 year ago
@ItsSomeDeadGuy RahXephon isn't mainstream most people are like what is RahXephon? RahXephon does have some religious things in it but not Christian religion. RahXephon is actually alot about accepting and timeless romance.
SkyExplosion 1 year ago
@ItsSomeDeadGuy
Cont - so in short, Eva is more deep, whereas Rah is a cheap knockoff for people who can't think as deeply. AKA mainstream trash.
ApesOfBass 1 year ago
@ApesOfBass You also forget how Eva blatantly added Christian symbolism, which sent viewers into a frenzy trying to find out what it meant, only for the creators to say "WE JUST ADDED IT BECAUSE IT LOOKS COOL LOLOLOL".
And the clinical depression of Hideaki Anno was what completely shattered Eva. This is why I'm actually very excited to watch the Rebuild movies: he's happily married and in a much clearer state of mind. I want to see how he approaches it now.
ItsSomeDeadGuy 1 year ago
@ItsSomeDeadGuy
ApesOfBass 1 year ago
@ItsSomeDeadGuy
ApesOfBass 1 year ago
@ApesOfBass I didn't drop Eva because I couldn't understand it. I actually love shows that I have trouble understanding because I like to ponder and analyze them to see if I can understand it. I dropped it because of its plot flaws and unlikeable characters.
And now I'm unsure if you actually watched RahXephon. It requires you to think to understand it as well.
And I'm sorry if I'm some sort of lesser being for not sharing your opinion. I guess I'll just have to live with that, now won't I?
ItsSomeDeadGuy 1 year ago 2
@ApesOfBass The Biblical references aren't a bad thing, it's just that for the creators admit that they mean nothing... it's like a slap in the face.
Okay, I really hate using others' opinions in debates, but if you really want to know how I feel about Neon Genesis Evangelion, look up JesuOtaku's video review of it. I do disagree with some of her beliefs that she brings into the review in the second part, but in terms of why I hate the show yet love its good points, she nailed it.
ItsSomeDeadGuy 1 year ago
@ItsSomeDeadGuy Bibical refrences..are wonderful i love NGE for that. their views are wonderful and its so great that others are out there looking for awnsers as well
keitarojohn 1 year ago
@keitarojohn Did you listen to anything I said? Yes, Biblical references are wonderful, but Anno outright admitted that they mean NOTHING. They just thought that it would look cool. Keep in mind that religion, especially Christianity, is considered a very "spooky" thing surrounded with intrigue in Japan, similar to the way witchcraft is here.
ItsSomeDeadGuy 1 year ago
@ApesOfBass RahXephon isn't mainstream most people are like what is RahXephon? RahXephon does have some religious things in it but not Christian religion. RahXephon is actually alot about accepting and timeless romance. Plus Evangleion is mainstream dude everyone has heard about it and RahXephon is aunderrated thats only has refrences to Eva at the very beginning. If you understood anything RahXephon is more deep than Evangelion.
SkyExplosion 1 year ago 29
@SkyExplosion eva was mainstream in japan. you walk up to a random person in the states and unless they were "into" anime, they've never heard of it. Only anime shows that went mainstream were dbz, sailor moon, akira, studio ghibli movies, and probably ghost in the shell. Thats really it in the states. The live action eva movie was always a pipe dream o adv's that was never going to happen. I get it's big in the anime fandom, but thats not mainstream america. and you people can't support
nejiblue12 11 months ago
@SkyExplosion it alone. On rahxephon, first off, I hated eva after the halfway point. It feel apart, and the movie sucked too. If you want a example of depth without being fucking obtuse for no good reason, see perfect blue. At least eva had a excuse though(hideki anno being clinically depressed or whatever.) Now, rahxephon. The show could have been good. the animation and designs were good, and I liked a few parts. But the overall story and characters? there's a little show thats a eva
nejiblue12 11 months ago
@SkyExplosion rip-off that I did like, Argento Soma. Why? Because it starts out a eva rip-off, says "fuck it" half way thourgh, then does it own thing and has a interesting ending. Rahxephon was a eva rip-off. Period. From start to finish. And anything that might have been good about it is buried under that mountain of shit. obtuse for the sake of being obtuse, the overly emo characters, killing off characters for the shock value alone, etc.
nejiblue12 11 months ago
@nejiblue12 Love plays a huge factor in RahXephon that Evangelion simply didn't have. The motifs about music? I must have missed those between the temper tantrums from the boy with daddy issues. There is no Shinji in RahXephon, there is no Haruka in Evangelion, no Commander Kunigi, no Elvy. You say it's an Evangelion ripoff because that's what you want to believe, when in reality, all you can do is make loose plotline connections that don't mean anything. Get out of here with that nonsense.
