  • Thank you so much for posting this.it's oneof the best versions I have ever heard, if not the best. I have never heard of Brian Kennedy before. He has the most wonderful voice and I love the Irish accent. Where on earth would I see him live. That would be fantastic. Thanks Lyn. x

  • great stuff Brian

  • The best I have heard from a male singer. Wonderful voice.

    Love the accent too :-)

  • Brian puts so much compassion into his singing-whether it's one of his own sings or not~ this guy is a treasure, a rare breed sadly, I live in Co Kerry but I'd travel anywhere to see him xx

  • @crumbawart yes it's on Brian's ON SONG cd x

  • I'd rather Myles Kennedy.

  • Is this available on CD...JC

  • ERIN GO BRAGH

  • Speaks to me old Irish heart, and Brian K. is a unique voice

  • God save Ireland from Croatia!

  • very good cover. but i do like the classic irish music

  • What a lovely poignant version of a gorgeous song, flawlessly executed. Beautiful voice, and simple yet effective arrangement.

  • So lovely well sung Brian

  • god save ireland

  • He has a lovely voice..

  • This guy has the most incredible voice in the world at the moment and yet when you watch the interview with van morrison on another website he says that no other musician or singer has ever excited him enough to make mention of and yet he used this guy as a backup singer for quite a few years!!!!!!!

  • One of the most beautiful songs I have heard.. Brian Kennedy has a wonderful voice. Love the song and Brian singing,

  • Album name is Brian Kennedy On Song.

  • beautiful voice lovely song one of his best

  • This is brilliant. Brian's version has the tenderness but also power in it. He is one of the best and really should be more famous.

  • So beautiful I could cry. I'll be back to listen to more of your music Brian. I love this song and hearing you sing it.

  • Beautiful.

  • Brian Kennedy is just musical perfection, i adore this man

  • cf1934.. Thankyou for the link. Templebar, a 6 six block by 3, just south of the centre of Dublin. Liffey River to Dame Street, and Parliment Street to Westmorland Street. Shook hands with Brian once, but saw him about a dozen times. This guy is definately touched by God. Cheers.......

  • Lovely guy Brian/ I pass you by once in a while in Temple Bar. ...A Man of the People.

  • @commins100 Where's the Temple Bar? There's one in "The Whiffenpoof Song! Love this man's voice!

  • @cf1934 Temple Bar is in Dublin - a beautiful part of the city. Would love to know how I ca get this song. Not on itunes. Does anyone know the album it's on.

  • Hey , this man was overlooked for many year? i will stik my neck out and put my na me to the Brian. He should come further north to Abrdeen to.

  • never let the hope die, that you´ll see her on earth again. That was what gave me so much strength when my mam died 12 years ago. Even the thought of it that I could whisper to her about this unique hope on her last breath gives me strength still today.

  • Remember the name CactusGrass Dave... I will be calling. ((((Awesome))))

  • No problem guys :)

  • My mum passed away one year ago today,we couldn't have any chosen songs in the church only hymns, the priest let us have a c.d. player at the graveside.we played the fields of athenry by Brian Kennedy.thankyou for putting this up ,beautiful song !!!

  • This is so beautiful, thank you.

  • went 2 school with your bruv stu he look's like ya lovely song !

  • great song poofy

  • This is a beautiful version, although I gotta admit I love the Dropkick Murphys version too. But I really look at them differently, and don't compare them like they're the same song.

  • Lovely version. Brings out the the great tenderness and the tragic loss of love due to injustice. This is a song for the many families destroyed by the cruel laws of the 1800s in Ireland, England and Scotland. Yet those laws were less vicious than those in continental Europe. Thank God for the Labour movement.

  • @AnotherCuppaCoffee - what you taliking about - what the british did to the Irish in 1845-49 "the Great Famine" will Never Be Forgotten by us.

  • why are all gays handsome

  • Wow... what an amazing version of a great song...

  • Do you have the CD this was on? I think it's called "On Song". If so would you be willing to upload Danny Boy like you did this one?

  • Love his music!

  • This song is so beautiful, I also like the Dropkick Murphys version.

  • wonderful!!!! Hi from Germany!!

  • @The180743 - Hallo aus Irland ;-)

I love this song, it's so sensitive!!!

Just invited you as a friend, is this ok?

  • Wow, what a lovely lovely voice, and a lovely song. Thank you for posting it.

  • Beautiful.

  • Good rendition

  • eh don't worry about the nudies, his is not you type, literally,

  • I have been looking for this Guy for agessssssssssssss... Beautiful voice!

  • Must be something about this vid, I just farted as well

  • love this song

  • Really lovely, Brian, thanks so much

  • Reminds me of Dan Fogelberg's Leader of the Band. But it's a little to purist for my taste. The version featured in the film Veronica Guerin is dramarically strking and a real tear jerker.

  • @darthsidious2010 Never thought about it but this does remind me of "Leader of the Band."

  • spot on Brian

  • really nice this version , makes me think of someone special ................ God Rest Anthony - love you always broXXX

  • great song :) Ireland is so great

  • Brian looks hot.

Are there any nude photos of Brian?

  • @mrspatrickcampbell ....yes there are,,,his boyfriend has them

  • well done you .. takes me home to my land.. god i miss ireland

  • I just farted...

  • awsome version

  • Brian has a unique voice and I think he's a great talent and under-rated.

  • ERIN GO BRAUGH !!

  • @MySassyfrass Eh?

  • Its a great song but this is far too pure to capture the essence of the song, and I am English

  • @davmccorm yeah you got a point there fella, from another fellow Englishman! However some guy was telling me that it was actually written in the 1970's. Not sure if he's right but wikipedia (obviously always right ^^) agreed and I was really surprised that it wasn't written in the 18th Century. So maybe the pure version captures the essence anyway.

  • @Davamir13 some lyrics have changed over the years but the original was written over 120yrs ago

  • @Davamir13 Pete St. John did record it in 1970 and always claims it to be his, but it is so close to one found from over 120 yrs ago, but who really cares lol, its a lovely song

  • @Rickyswann381 haha yeah fair point there mate. Seemed a bit too good and in another time to be written in the 1970's anyway so that's a good thing.

  • WOW... Absolutly Brilliant..

  • Awesome!!!!

  • Love this song, sang with brilliance from Mr. Kennedy!

  • Brian is extremely underplayed and known by the wider public. I remeeber him when I lived in N.I. in the 90's. He is sometimes a leas backing singer for Van Morrison but is a stand alone singer in his own right. very successful too I might add and not to be missed.

  • Thanks for posting this. I love this song and had not heard Brian Kenndey sing it. I think he captures the mounful spirit bettter than anyone. Great version

  • "mournful"

  • thank you so much for posting this!!
