This was broadcast on ABC, as LMAD, Pyramid and the short-lived Showdown were all ABC game shows.
And yes, that is Bery Convy, longtime host of "Tattletales," "Win, Lose or Draw," and "Password Plus." He also was an actor, known on Daytime for his work on "Love of Life" and also for being a victim in the cult B-movie "Bucket of Blood."
@scifiradioguy Bert Convy never hosted "Password Plus." The hosts of that NBC-TV daytime series were Allen Ludden, then Bill Cullen, briefly, and finally Tom Kennedy, after Ludden's death and upon Ludden's wishes for Kennedy to succeed him.
Convy hosted the next incarnation of the durable "Password" format, "SuperPassword," also on NBC.
@scifiradioguy Convy was also the original consideration for the role of the vampire, "Barnabas Collins," on ABC-TV's daytime Gothic horror soap opera "Dark Shadows." But a Shakespearean actor from Canada named Jonathan Frid prevailed over Convy in the casting choice to portray the 175 year-old vampire. "And the rest," as the adage goes, "is history."
yes, and the suits got wise by thinking "Hmmm... we can boost our revenue by airing the Emmys at night rather than in the day when people are working!!!!" This way they can showcase each network's line-up and recruit new viewers.
Haha, this video rocks...NBC is gonna rack up more Emmys with a new show they have coming out called Celebrity Circus. It's gonna be really funny...celebrities trying to do circus tricks. That's hard to beat. It starts this Wednesday, June 11th at 9:30PM. Check it out!!

I wonder if that year's winners feared their category losers would push them overboard.

But since about 2003 that hasn't really worked out as well as it was originally intended.

I like Bert Convy's musical number of Elvis Presley's/Sam Neely's "You Can Have Her". Perfect for a real cruise ship like the LOOOOOOOVE BOAT!
