I gotta say these guys did a good job here. Hiram Bullocks Window Shopping is a classic. It sounds good. RIP Hiram Bullock. He is truly missed. Peace!
Charley uses the Yamaha Tour series as well, with a 14x6 main snare, and sometiems a 12x5 snare drum. But we could all probably play the same snare and NOT get the sound Charley gets! It's not just the drum that produces the unique sound. Charley Drayton is a master at his craft, and plays from somewhere most of us musicians never get to! The bar was raised whenever he plays!
I know Charley plays the Yamaha Vintage series a lot along with the standard maple but since this was a gig where multiple drummers were playing, it's probably a backline snare. Maybe a Yamaha Musashi or even just a standard Yamaha maple...
Oh YEAH! This is one of my favorite Hiram tunes! Will Lee and Charley Drayton are a sick rhythm section. Always a pleasure hearing Ricky Peterson. And Mike Caffrey was great on guitar - a definite Hiram influence going on there.
Isn't this the same Ricky Peterson(guy on keys) that is related to St. Paul (Paul Peterson) formally of The Time, The Family and himself as a solo artist?
Yeah...this was a serious cruizin' song back in Detroit when wjzz was still in existence.
I love you, Hiram and Kenny.

I agree and in my opinion Hiram made wonderful instrumental hits in the 80`s;
later he left the fusion corner quite a bit , being a Bullock fan I own most of his records though

Hiram wrote this song and recorded it at Metro Sound in Minneapolis. Along w/ Don Alias, Ricky P, Will Lee and Billy Bland on drums of Prince fame
