I tend to agree less with Cenk on this one and more with the other guy.
Another thing too: read "Audacity of Hope," Obama believes that "elections matter," meaning that Obama probably believes that if the public option can't get through the senate, then Democrats need to work harder on winning hearts and minds of voters to make the senate more progressive, rather than "lean on" senators to get those last few votes, and risk political capital.

I really dont believe there is anything Obama can realistically do about the economy, except let the free market work. However, most people will not believe that.

He's not the guy I voted for! I love this honesty... He hasn't closed Guantanamo, or pulled out of Iraq, or pretty much fixed anything that Bush/Chaney screwed up as he so promised in his CHANGE campaign. If he doesn't do it now; then when? Surly not during his re-election campaign, because no would believe it then.

I don't disagree with anything you said; Democrats forced the banks to give loans they normally would not have so poorer families could have homes, but did not provide oversight for the dangers; and yes, Bush DID warn against it and was overridden. However, Gramm did not help the situation, nor did Clinton's disgusting Secretary of the Treasury, who made over 200 million dollars after he betrayed his trust and undid crucial regulations, then went to work for the very banks he sold his soul to.

I can't say that this is necessarily good or bad but it is nice to have both parties and hopefully the majority of the American population have a chance for their opinions to be heard. That Fox inculcated the highest percentage of misperception is no surprise, they were heavily invested in the disaster. Many of these loan programs had "teaser rates". It was a very low rate to start in order to qualify --- when the rate increased, people could no longer afford the payment & foreclosures began

This triggers medical care prices to go down as well, since insurance cannot afford to pay that much for med. care. This is well known fact in the international health insurance industry. Before the repeal of the glass/steagall act. You come to me for a loan I would do a through credit check and make sure you can pay back the loan. If not then when I try to sell you loan to another bank and they ask to see the paperwork I'm in trouble.
After: Why should I care. I can just bundle your loan with others and call it a high risk/high yield investment and sell it to another. and you know what we can keep doing this round and round we go.

It had nothing to do with the loan but everything with how the bank could handle its money. Before investment and commercial banks were separate. after they were able to merge and alot did that's why they lobbied for so long and so hard for it to be repealed. before a bank could not sell your loan as an investment package. They had to sell it as a mortgage. if you don't see the connection you never will.
