  • Definitely the Dead playing in the background.

  • Hi, I was just playing around with U-Tube and heard this wonderful recording...I am Neal and Carolyn's middle child, Jami Cassady...thank you so much for recording this...I sent it to my mom, sister, brother,daughter...I just loved it! That's my dad!

    XXOO

    Jami

  • That is the grateful dead playing but its Bob Weir introducing Neal definitely not Garcia

  • The whole rap can be found with a few typos here: wild-bohemian dor com fwd slash cassady1 dot htm

  • This is 5 minutes shy

  • @jmochena Check out Keyz productions. They have an incredible video of Neal that runs an hour or so. It's inexpensive, and the real deal. It's titled "On The Road And In The Backhouse". It's awesome!! A must have for any serious Neal Cassidy fan.

  • @achtsieben87 That's definitely Grateful Dead playing here. This is from the Strait Theater in S. F., Ca. 7-23-67. My copy is much more clear than this one, and runs a few minutes longer as well. It's hard to tell from this copy, but that is Jerry Garcia introducing Neal at the beginning. At the end of this version, that is definitely Great Society doing the intro to "Sally Go Round The Roses" from Matrix, 1966. It comes from the LP "Conspicuous Only In It's Absence", which is awesome!!

  • The Great Society? wasn't that LBJs term?

I'm glad you posted that clip, I've heard that cowboy Neal babbled and rambled in trippy talk at their earlier shows, but never had comformation. Thanks

  • The Grateful Dead used to let Neal ramble on ( usually while tripping ) between sets. You can hear the beginnings of Lovelight ..I knew I should have wore more paisley

  • The latest edition of Neal's book 'The First Third', now includes an introduction which details the background of his father. I have not been able to get a copy of this book.

  • How can this be Neal Cassady in 1978 when he died in 1968?

  • Sorry, I did not make myself clear. This is an old recording of Cassady which I recorded in 1978, as part of a radio feature on San Francisco.
