@Timsar81 time does exist, it's just quite an abstract concept to define. I understand why you would think this though. We all think of time as a man made unit of measurement but that is not the truth, time can actually be faster or slowly depending on certain variables. I'd advise reading some books on einstein's theorys or maybe a documentary it will really expand your understanding of the universe.

Well, the prisons wouldn't be over crowded. My issue with what we are seeing, however, is that we're not seeing many of them guilty of murder. That raises a concern for me because it seems like the drug trafficking is something they are tacking on to civil offenses. What.. exactly.. does "infighting public unrest" mean exactly? What it sounds like is that if you are politically active.. your a drug smuggler. That way they don't have to produce a body. That might be a bitch.

@PaleHearse Iran is located right beside Afghanistan, which is the center for production of opium and other narcotics. Morphine and heroin are not ur normal narcotics, they will miss u up, specially in the society the effects are huge. In Iran they call any opium driven drug, "Home destroyers". because of this a person smuggling more than so many amount will get the death penalty specially if it is a repeating offender

@Timsar81 Understood and I completely agree about the penalty handed out for such offense. The amounts given weren't exactly personal use. My comment was simply driven out of a western skepticism and cynicism regarding the application of the death penalty in cases where the "witness" can't be examined. It's pretty easy for the police to have a van filled with opium find the family member of a dissident and *bing* instant drug smuggler. In the US convictions of that kind always have a trail.

The government can easily find something that a person does against the laws, and believe me it's easy for them. For example sex outside of marriage or adultery. Or even a mention of some one not having faith in god.

I think that speaks to my initial point that when you are in a society that has the death penalty for many more minor offenses and does not have a jury of peers that it's easier to sneak these charges in without any support for them and thus use it as a political tool. You want to execute for homosexuality.. you tack on that they were a child rapist.. you want to execute them for political dissidence, you tack on that they were a opium trafficker. That's all I was getting at.

pity and mercy for tiger brings misery to the sheep( if you let the tiger loose,it will kill all the sheep). these people have been caught and convicted a few times but never gave up their lives of crime( drug smuggling, rape, murder, etc) so they should be hanged if convicted fairly in the court of law for the sake of innocent, hard working citizens. letting them back in the society is insane so better put them down and set an example.
