i have installed all the softwares.I have put android in eclipse. But when i run eclipse, in the menu "Window" i have got SDK manager and AVD manager on two separate lines. basically they are not combined. i do not know what i did wrong. everything runs smoothly otherwise. how it will affect the use of eclipse and android. Is there any way for me to combine these two? or should i reinstall everything?
Plz let me know. i posted this request on other youtube channels. still waiting for a response.
I followed this tutorial after doing all the work when i run eclipse it shows this error: Failed to parse the output of 'adb version'. Can you help me how to solve this problem?
Hey Travis, about to follow this awesome tutorial!
Got a question..Whenever i want to install the SDK's you mention at: 6:30 , when clicking android 2.2 and 2.3 and google maps, i hit accept all, but when downloading a Window keeps popping up and says, error file not found (acces denied)
hi travis, i orderd a book to learn java the basics, your explanation is verry good, also i not know the java languages. keep up the good work! and thx for learning people all this stuff
Great vids to getting started programing java apps. Get past these install vids and you will be happy. Do learn some java on the side though the videos get harder and you will be able to copy what Travis does but to think beyond coping what code he writes you need some language to tweak and play around with what he has shown you.
Try to play around with other options after the lesson. Expand on what you have learned for a bit. Then the code will really stick
On my Gosh THANK YOU! I'm taking this class in college and the teacher has NO IDEA how to do this on a mac! and I was LOST! Till you showed me what to do...LOVE IT! Great Job:) here's your Picture (\_/) (0_0)
is eclipse free to download? and when im ready to upload my app to the market, will i be making money with sales. I dont mind them taking a cut of the sales as long as i do in fact see dollar signs in my my bank account. thank you for any guidance.
is this gonna be another software tool that i work hard on making an app with to upload and sell on the market but than find out that i cant, just like i did with visual basic?
Good intro knowing where to get all the stuff and set it up is great. Two big adds for windows folks new to Java. 1) You also need to find and download the Java development kit or you will get errors saying you don't have a development runtime environment. Do this first before installing eclipse or andriod SDK. 2) For Windows make sure you are in the admin account for this whole tutorial or you get missing file messages because you need admin privledges. Took awhile to figure that out.
Thanks Dude for bringing this up for us....this was the thing i was missing ...the start ...the first step towards Android development.....honestly after trying so hard I was unable to prepare the environment for starting my long awaited Android Development ....which Now I am able to prepare with the help of this video....so grateful to you......I am sure you are going to get its reward....of course you would ....some day in shape of some blessing! Thanks again and have blessed life.
hello Travis nice to see you on youtube !!!! i was fan of BUCKY tutorial, so come to know about u from him, he is amazing . and i started believe that people can get an education free , and this is proved by YOU and BUCKY, i belong from very small town in india, but honestly i say by this education system i am feeling top of the world , i giving my most time to learn java and Android , i would say million ton
thanks to YOU AND BUCKY for making dream true of unlimited people in the world
How to check if you have 32 or 64 bit in Windows 7 if you are in doubt -go to Control Panel, system and security, view amont of ram and processor speed. In the system type, it should say System Type: 32-bit or 64-bit Operating system.
Great, downloading all your tuts so I can practice on my vacation. I'm majoring in Java and probably doing an app for Android. I might get back at you with results. I hope you'd like to know if you're tutorials made any success with me. See ya, keep 'em comin'
Fantastic video, very helpful. What is the difference between Eclipse for Java developers and Classic? Google suggests to download classic, but you chose java. Is there a significant difference?
I noticed a step missing which may or may not apply to everyone.... This does not show the installing of the Android SDK. When you run the install of the SDK it tells you that it is dependant on the Java SE Development Kit (SDK) and checks your version. If you don't have it, a button shows up directing you to the oracle website to download it. It is required before you can move forward in the Android SDK installation.
Also it appears that the android sdk installer freaks out at the end if you didnt install the java sdk in the default program files directory, so dont change that location when installing it.
Can I connect a kindle fire (which is running a customized version of android 2.3) to the android sdk and test my apps on that?
