Snes is probably the best console ever, PS2 have good sports games which all peaked in 2004 & I think have got progressively worse. I would be very suprised if any of the fancy new systems have got playable sport games

As much as I hate to admit it, I think in all likelyhood the Wii U will be Nintendo's last console. The whole purpose of the Wii U is to bring in the so-called "hardcore gamers", and so far the only people who are interested in it are the Nintendo fans like myself. They haven't gained the favor of any of the "hardcore" audience, because they think it's just another gimmick and they're associating it too closely with the Wii. The features that are supposed to win them over are secondary.

The thing that kind of pisses me off is that Sony also works with TVs and crap, and Microsoft works with Computers, so it's really cheap that they have to get greedy and join the competition when Nintendo has been solely on Video Games for years.

Nintendo cheated Sony out of a contract years ago on a CD addon for the Super Nintendo. Sony got pissed and made the Playstation.

Microsoft is a software company but they can branch out and make whatever the hell they want. It's not like Microsoft is one general one-track minded company. There's a different team doing the consoles. And what's wrong with them wanting to get on the game?

Also consoles are pretty much computers but focused on gaming.

Nintendo is the greedy one.

The Saturn may have done better in America if SEGA had not released it as early with as few retailers as they did. The early launch angered the third party developers as they could not capitalize on the momentum fast enough, and it was difficult for them to develop games for it in the first place. Also, the retailers who were not included in the early launch (most notably Wal-Mart and KB Toys) felt betrayed. Some even pulled ALL the SEGA stuff from the shelves to make room for the competition!

To be honest all 3 systems kinda have there place. Nintendo is like the first u have when ur a kid. Very few rated M or T games. Kinda the family game console. Then you move to the playstaion. Less kid games more T and M rated games. Then if you really get serious about gaming and want more competitive game play you buy the Xbox. Almost no E or T rated games. Just M rated and by far the best online service with live. But all in all each system is good for a certain age group.

SNES version of doom better than 32x version? dont think so. Dont quite agree with everything AVGN says, but its still funny as hell. Blast processing is basically the genesis saying it has a faster CPU, to compinsate for shittier graphics. 32x is so underrated... it has such great games.

@7031 Yes, i also have it along with a 32X. The SNES version of Doon had such blurry graphics it was tough to even see enemies, and the gameplay had serious delay problems that ruined the experience. The sound quality is much better though, as one would expect from the SNES. The 32X version on the other hand, has great graphics and there is no delay at all, though the sound quality is noticably inferior.

Nintendo will win. They're the company with the longest term fanbase and they're consistently making great games that you can only get for their platforms (the first party ones, which ARE the best titles in gaming today). Microsoft is starting to figure it out if they can just get a couple more big-name exclusives to pick up Halo-like steam. Sony is treading water at this point, but now that they have two competent competitors, how do they hold par for the course? I don't think they can.
