The crash was way after the spectator problem. What he did wrong was takeoff with a paraglider. He should have used a hang glider.I've never seen one of them collapse after leaving the ground.
Run Forrest Run! He didn't really have control of the wing before turning to launch. The rest was just an unfortunate chain reaction. Wing got out in front of him after he gets a big jerk from the risers( wing pressurized at cross direction to his run) reminding him to look up and see what the wing is doing, Forgets to keep running. he tries to correct on the fly, wing loses pressure, runs faster while braking one side and blah blah blah....and flair! Shit happens. Try it again!
It looks like the pilot got distracted by the people on launch and let the glider get out in front of him nose down. Then tried to brake the surge and got a tuck, overcorrected and induced a tuck on the other side.
Not enough brake and not enough speed --> glider is out in front of the pilot with a low angle of attack and not enough internal pressure in the wing. Difficult to see what's out in front of launch....
not good did it kill him ??

My instructor would be yelling "Put your F@#king hands up". Too much brake.
FeralZZ 2 years ago
@FeralZZ I can't see any brake input here. It looks like unflyable conditions to me, even for an experienced pilot.

Was it just a thermal? Looks almost like it was flying mostly OK and he got pushed out of a thermal on his right.

what was he thinking? plenty of time to abort launch... "if i can only get into the air i'll be fine..."

i think the run it's finish too soon. I can see a stop and then he restart to run...

He clearly got distracted by these idiots standing in his path and taking pictures. He should have canceled the takeoff - hope this guy survived...

What the fuck happened there?
MKBlackbird 5 years ago 2
Asymmetrical tuck, failure to counter correctly. Then, it happened on the other side of the wing. The wing became entangled in the risers.
