i think i need to give this film another chance,after watching The Thin Red Line you can really see there was more to that movie than the fighting taking place,there where things that drew apart from the war like love and loss,and in a similar fashion Apocalypse Now has more to it outside the belly of the beast,that's why i thnk i must re-visit this film!

Seriously. #1 The Deer Hunter is an amazing piece of art. #2 Cimino is hardly blackballed, he has made many films since Heaven's Gate which is the actual film that got him in trouble, not DH which won the Oscar for Best Picture. It is a "big people" movie, maybe when you get older you will understand the power of the film, but probably not.

the redux is the best version becuase the added scenes are some of the best in the movie (the french dinner scene) and adds to the movies insanity and all over the place style. apocalypse now is my favourite movie because of the story, the acting but mosty because of the lighting and the mastermind directing of the genius francis ford coppola. if u havent seen this movie, do so now, its not some corny anti-war patriotism bullshit its based on a book that was written in 1911.

so the whole OOO WE'RE FRENCH OOOO, kinda shows that the french are also insane like kilgore was

but the main reason i loved that scene is because it was the first time in hours before u saw a REAL human being, all the other characters in the film feel isolated, and alien

I think the original version of this film was great....but I think Coppolas Redux Directors Cut new version was much better thats just my opinion either way I love this movie hardly any directors today are as good as Coppola was during this time when he was at the height of his powers and I think I like Coppolas Apocalypse and Stones Platoon both the same both great Vietnam war movies and better than most of the shit Hollywood makes today
