Some people will tell you to load an image in the background, but if you that way and rotate, you will lose your place. Create a plane and texture it. Then set the "self-illumination" all the way up. Hope that makes sense and helps.
I made some planes and "textured" them with my photos. I then applied a material with the "wire" box checked in the material editor to the actual object I was modeling. That way, I could see the image and model in the same viewing mode.
Oh man, I love Hound. Great work, also. I never had the patience to do anything noteworthy in 3D modeling/animation programs, so I can really appreciate the people that do this professionally.
Just one more thing: Hound shouldn't be scowling. ;D
its cool to see your works.. but its truly amazing to see the process.. it shows how real professionals do things... i think Mike Bay needs to learn a few things from you... keep up the stellar work.. you truly are a consumate professional and an amazing artist.
The model was based on my Binaltech Hound that I got a few years back. I feel the Binaltech treatments of UPDATING, not COMPLETELY CHANGING the designs was the right direction for bringing our old favorites back to the present day. Hound, Prowl, and of course Optimus Prime have been my all time favorites for over 20 years now. WOW! 20 years! Dang I'm old.
Seriously. Just take the G1 designs, give them the Binaltech/Alternator/Masterpiece treatment, beat them up and weather them a little, and THAT is what should be in a live action movie. :P
First of all, it´s great your animation and work.......

3DS max can use photos from different angles to create a 3D model?
mariusvanrhijn 3 years ago
I took the photos and brought them into 3DS Max and used them behind the wireframes to get the main shapes and structure. :)

Nice.
If it's not too much trouble, could you teach me some of your techniques in the future?
