great set, the only prob i have with it is 1. i find that the snare is too small and im always hitting the rim, and 2. the symbols arent too good. but idk maybe its just me.... any problems with it for you?
Nice work. I just got rid of a kit just like this and I've posted some stuff on here. I get a kick out of people implying that it takes less talent to play with an electric kit. You still need groove and you have it in this clip. I just might be stealing some of your stuff thank you very much.
you have sort of a crash cymbal sound on your tom it's funny. ^^
I'm just about to buy this set right now, after several days of studying what kit is best for me... Great playing by the way, I'd take my guitar and jam with you anytime! :)
Well, what i usually do, and highly enjoy, wich i reccomend to all drum players, from new to proffesional is that you take a slow song you like, wich has either no drums, or few, or a pretty simple beat, and just start making up your own in there!
If you didnt get wich song i ment its like, Let it Be (Beatles), Hero of War (Rise Against), Run (Snow Patrol) and so on, love doing it, and always play songs you like!
I also have the HD-1, but im getting a TD-9K soon.
1. i think u can add up to 2 more pads(either cymbals or toms) unless u buy some adapter which wud allow u to add more. and yes i think u wud need an extra stand.
2. basicly answered that
3. yes u can
4. yes u can, u can also make the hi-hat pedal trigger a bass drum sound, basicly givin u double pedal as well.
I'm planning on buying this kit, at least a TD-9. But I was wondering if the difference between rubber pads and mesh pads is enough to pay the extra 700$, just to get mesh tom heads. Please answer!
i got a TD-9S ummmmmm i mean like if u really want to mesh heads u can. if u just buy the rubber head one and u still want mesh heads, u can buy them separately but its more expensive. i just stayed wit the rubber heads, there's a slight difference but its alright, hope this helps =)
Hey dude... It depends if you wish to progress onto a better feel. I am now selling my td3 that came with rubber pads and now after a couple of years i think i would benifit from mesh and a better module. Tbh i think to start rubber is fine but mesh is that little bit more nicer to play with. However, you wont realise the difference after a while... Its like buying a car with or without power steering :)
all the toms (even the snare!) are dual triggered. I have assgined splash cymbals on my tom rims and a triangle on my snare's rim in my TD9kit. you can tweak any pad on this thing totally! i sometimes even convert my hihats (CY-5) into congas
the cymbals are mutli-triggered as well - mine, for example, has a china on the edge, ride for the most part, and a ride bell of course on one CY-8 pad.
i recommend roland's TD-9 cause it can really teach you how to become more accurate with your chops (it's got a scope function and a versatile metronome that shows the notes on its screen everytime you play; therefore, you can judge yourself whether you are metronome-abiding or not. Another thing is Yamaha's DTX have really gummy pads - the toms feel too gummy - basically it doesnt feel like those of an acoustic kit.
"people play with it a lot so it kinda broke from rough housing"
- that's probably what happened. But trust me- the tom pads are dual triggered. All you have to do is press a few buttons to assign it with different sounds and hit the rims on a certain angle. It's that simple
For the ride cymbal (both the crash and ride cymbals for the TD-9S are CY-8 pads), yes, you may trigger it with any drum/cymbal/percussion you want: crashes, chinas, rides , totally up 2 U.
I have the older model of the td 6 with all mesh pads there both very awesome its hard to stop playing them, yours has way more options. Are you still playing axis pedals?
hey thats an awesome sounding kit. i was wondering is it possible to attach a double bass drum pedal like a tama iron cobra to these kits? because these are awesome kits but thats my only concern.
great set, the only prob i have with it is 1. i find that the snare is too small and im always hitting the rim, and 2. the symbols arent too good. but idk maybe its just me.... any problems with it for you?

I bought Hd-1 a few weeks back just trying to find time to play them is a problem right now but should get better soon.
Can't wait till i'm at the stage where I can actually move bits of me when I want and make my own beats up.
I could do with learning a real easy rock song thats kinda interesting, any ideas?
My mate suggested Smells Like Teen spirit but it's a little bit too old hat.

Hmmm. Well, I've been playing acoustic and elctronic kits for over 11 years, and its not any harder for me ;)
seanlame 3 years ago
hey man... can u add any other tombs or zymbals to the original roland set?? ... if yes ... how many??
jodoelnick 3 years ago
Yes, you can :) I just bought this kit and added a ride and a another bass kick.
It basically has 2 extra ports and an additional plug on the ride side for expansion.
The main ports are A>) For an extra crash and B>) the Aux port is for an extra tom or kick.
A fantastic kit overall... best bang for yer buck ;)

are the toms and snare dual zone?
what about cymbals
what zones are they?
also could someone tell me what they would chooose??

i can answer your questions for you :P

diwataness 3 years ago
well yesterday i was just at guitar center and it seemed that when i tested out the td-9...the rims didnt make different sounds
on the td-9sX it did..but not the td-9s
im hoping it is just because people play with it a lot so it kinda broke from rough housing
also...if i wanted to in the future...could i buy mesh heads to replace rubber ones
and one more thing
the ride cymbal
how many ways can u hit it..crash too?
thank you for the answers
drummerboi621 3 years ago
sure thing!
