I would not want to be that first police bike at 0:40. Wrong side of the road on a bend, and hidden from view by the transit van. Even with the blues on it looks a bit risky.

@04smallmj - there are widespread issues with current lighting regulations which have barely changed in decades. Not just in Abload Escorting but also recovery, blue-light services such as mines rescue, mountain rescue, bomb disposal, transport for transplant/blood etc etc. It's a much debated subject on several industry sector forums (eg HATO 'National Traffic' forum - search for 'flashing headlamps')

@roadpilots Cool, thanks for the forum link thing :-). There does seem to be a few problems with lighting actually, I sometimes see reflective blue markings on non-police vehicles, for example. It's a lot more consistent than the laws in North America though...

i know that scaina tend to dominate the trucks used for the heavy transport stuff and volvo are just as good.

but iv suprized that more and more companies are going for the m.a.n,s we have 3 of them at my workplace, while thay done bounce as much as the volvos the running gear is horrifically bad.

power lag,never going into gear from neutral,brakes are rubbish,and the engine brake is so weak its pointless.

if it were my money id go for the volvos.

@eurodaily There was an earlier wrong-side down a Dual Carriageway followed by a wrong-way down an on-slip into a small market town (Cowbridge); which required several Police vehicles at once to stop traffic. P Also a contingency against one of the loads breaking down/becoming separated. Police escorts are drawn from Officers on rest days so have no impact upon policing.

Nice. I've got a load arranged for tomorrow morning, only 10'9" so the police are'nt too bothered, but it's going up through the Clyde Tunnel at about 7:15 am and they want to stop the traffic while it goes through. I'm hoping it wont annoy everybody else too much!
