Depends which one suits you best. DW6 is the original fighting with a Musou mode and storyline for characters from each kingdom. DW6 Empires relies on strategy, and rather hard at certain points. Take a closer look at the gameplay videos for both of them and decide which one you like better.

You know what makes this really awesome? Many of the additions were suggest by me when I invaded Koei angry about dw6. While I was there I told them to at least double the amount of people. Make different ways of going through empire mode. Getting rid of free mode. And befriend and marry officers. But I didn't do this alone there was many people who helped make suggestions and they are probably really happy except for the that one guy who liked free mode....

Why get rid of free mode? The rest actually doesn't sound that bad, and i may consider getting this game, despite how pissed i was at DW6.

There is very little you will be disappointed about. Other than the character models and move-sets are the same. You still can't manipulate fields with security measures and traps that would show up in dw6. There are no cutscenes except for the ending. And the difficultly curve basically set at one level and doesn't rise and can not be changed during gameplay sessions making it very hard or very easy and no in between. If you liked dw5e then you should like dw6e but if your not sure rent it.

I think the customization is limiting when compared to dynasty 5 empires. Plus your edit characters have no portrait when in battle which is kinda lame

true about the portrait but the customization is great in my opinion cuz you can really get the right features of the face and i like the appearance selection better

Alot of the charatures have had weapon changes so that they are unique. For example Ling tong now how his numbchucks back and Yue Ying has some sort of Crossbow on her arm (I call it a Harliqin named after a weapon from Warhammer 40K). Also some people like Cao Pi tho they look the same they have diffrent move sets(P.S. Cao Pi's attack when your blades are locked is awsume!)

I have to say that I prefure Zhange He's claws (Tho I hate Zhange He) and Taishi Ci's Toffa is all right. I'm not keen on it. Tho what I am keen on is the Edit Charature that I created who is a Cat girl (Because i could) called Miao Mi (Meow Me) XD

Fighting styles until 6, I preffered Zhou Yu for 1 on 1 battles on harder modes, Ma chao and his huge landing swipe attack for enemy clearing and Guan Ping and xiahou Dun for brute force
