Yes... against the flow.. correct. Also look for Severn Bore, Pororoca, Turnagain Arm, Quintang Silver (or black) Dragon to see the exact same phenomenon scaled up. A little miracle of nature.
Hi Kevin, tell me,you must have seen this bore on qute a few occasions....How big does it get on a really big spring tide? It reminds me of our dee bore here in Chester! (R.I.P. ...since they deep-dredged the estuary 2 years ago. ) it used to get to 3 feet occasionaly, but now...nothing :(
I recently filmed a 3 - 4 ft wave , stop start, over four miles along the river. This was the high spring tide in early march. The next big one, in a bout three weeks should be a 3 footer as well.
The tide makes it move. At low tide on the river, water rushes in from the Wash, which is an expanse of sea water between Norfolk and Lincolnshire. The tide rushes in and swells up on the river. This can be seen twice daily most days, (not on a neep tide)
A perfect training partner if you are out on a run by yourself. This bore is only travelling at slow running/jogging speed,so next time you visit this world famous wave that I didn't know existed, why not run with the tide next to the channel for some great company, courtesy of Mother Nature.

im from kings lynn and never seen or heard of this but want to, can u give me some tips of where

Check the tide times for Kings Lynn.
At the lowest point of a low tide, more so on a high spring tide, pop down to the river at St German's Bridge or Magdalen Bridge for a 'deep swell'.
Travel south to Stowbridge for the best white water

it was known as the eager and on the spring tides people would gather at all the bridges as far down as stowbridge to watch it.

Hi Dan,
Look in the Lynn news for tide times.
The wave happens from St Germans down to Saddlebow about 1hr before high tide in lynn.
kevinhollanduk 5 years ago
Cheers for that :)
