Everything in 1984 is gradually becoming a reality. How do we know that Christopher Columbus really discovered America at the time that he did? There is no way to prove this other than through the textbooks they give us to read in schools. All of history could be a falsification. There is no way of telling what is true from what is false.

When the textbooks say different things that contradict each other, and you are still expected to accept all of what it says, THEN it is 1984.

"History is written by the victor". That is why many higher level history classes call for research papers that analyze the weakness of the sources used.

There is nothing wrong with Soylent Green or any other related products. We should take advantage of those who have died. We can use them to increase crop production, feed the population, create energy, or manufacture medical products. Its no accident that the church has stood up to communism, nazism, socialism, etc. In the past popes have stood up to kings and emperors who acted unjustly.

For some reason my reply to Mr John is not posting. His comparison of Medieval Catholicsim to communism is not serious. Historically the medievals had a very high view of reason and would not have put up with the whole 2+2=5 garbage. There emphasis on natural rights would have landed them in room 101 for its anti totalitarian ideas. The deaths under communism dwarf anything that the inquisioton ever did which is full of myths itself. Many catholics died standing up to tryannical regimes.
