  • This feels so Portugal. The Man-ly =D

  • @ThaRolk only in a different, not-as-good way

  • @MrSkate4weed I like them both equally

  • @ThaRolk can you please suggest me some other songs by this band then? i've only heard 2 i like, and i've checked quite a few of their songs...please!

  • @MrSkate4weed Well, this happened to me as well. Listen to the songs you dont like more often, takes time to get used to them, its a different style.

  • Awesome.

  • Saw them in San Francisco and they were effing brilliant live!

  • whats kay kay? is it OK OK?

  • They are from Minnesota!

  • @mssunray16 I wish this were true, but no they are not.

  • @TheSmeezyBeezy are you from mankato?

  • @mssunray16 Nope, lived in St. Peter quite a few years ago though, why?

  • Man that guitar tone at 2:52 gets me every time.

  • My god that guitar tone at 2:52 gets me every time.

  • Where is Thomas Hunter?

  • This is epic.

  • Sounds like a mash up of Portugal. The Man., Squirrel Nut Zippers, Rx Bandits, The Decemberists and craziness.

  • Seeing these dudes tonight w/ The Dear Hunter

  • Saw these guys two years ago with The Dear Hunter and Mewithoutyou; needless to say, the lattermost band was COMPLETELY upstaged by Kay Kay and The Dear Hunter.

Also, they had no horn player so the trumpet in this song was done on kazoo lol

  • I just saw them tonight in rockville center. Amazing. Eat a dick.

  • @OliversMovies I'm seeing that show in mid August and I can't wait. I hadn't been exposed to this band before and I'm really glad that they enjoy this song as much as I do haha.

  • I saw these guys with The Dear Hunter and Naive Thieves and they played a 12 minute version of this song, needless to say it was amazing.

  • @OliversMovies I'm seeing that show tomorrow, I can't wait!

  • 3:07 and on is sex to my ear vagina

  • The fact these guys don't have a much bigger following is just baffling. They're the shit.

  • man that trumpet make me repeat it over and over agian. love it

  • I wear a fez now. Fezzes are cool. ;P

  • I didn't know that Wild Orchid Children is up to this project. And i think Kirk Huffman and friends are awesome. It's hard to manage 2 bands in the same period.

  • that's awesome how they change across genre from wild orchid children

  • amg yes. i think i'm in love :D:D

  • 13 people dislike their momma

  • damn good shit

  • awesome :)

  • Wow I like their style

  • lawl reminds me of MCR

  • I have nothing against this band, but singers who make out with the microphone scare me alot for some reason.

  • Authentic.

  • Saw this when I woke up today... it made my day.

  • This is definitely a quiter set....seeing them play all out with 12 people in a place like the Bowery Ballroom is a sight to behold.

  • this is good music

  • 4:14 reminds me of the bar music in star wars :)

  • fucking amazing.

  • This song is amazing! I heard them and immediately ordered there album.. Every song on it is really good too! I reccomend them to anyone and everyone!

  • this song is aweesome

  • freak out mannnnn

  • @fpooner get out mannn yeah! hehe

  • This song is super good.

  • i don't even think there are 50 bands that sound like this. them and portugal both have drifted into a new sounding genre. (at least to me) i wish there were more bands that sounded like them so i'd have more to listen to! luckily portugal puts out as many albums as 3 bands put together

  • my ears and eyes thank you. Such a great band. they really deserve more play!

  • Anybody know where to find this as a download? I have to visit this on youtube everyday just to listen to it.

  • 2:18 is pretty damn anti-climactic lol. Otherwise, this sounds just as good as the album version

  • Wow, this band is fantastic. I'm loving the sounds and vibe. Off the chain.

  • ah i was trying to find these guys after i saw them with dear hunter this summer

    they blew me away

  • @bucketheadmyhero sameeee, been in love with them ever since the dear hunter show

  • Saw them live =] his hair is way long now.

  • this is really impressing me

    like orgasming a little bit

  • one thing that's always weirded me out was his sister standing there doing nothing but a little dance or hair shake every now and then

  • Comment removed

  • The girl with the black hair? thats his wife.. She sings a bit.

  • oh really? everyone told me they were brother/sister....weird

  • beautiful

  • Is Kay Kay really a reincarnationation of Margot and the Nuclear So & Sos?

  • @JayKayDeeBee no, its members of gatsby's american dream

  • sweet

  • lol. nice hat.

  • did he really call me a troll?

  • I'm afraid he did man.. Go kick his ass.

  • portugal the man!! is better

  • i like both bands

but dude. Kay kay's album is really a masterpiece.

  • How so? These guys aren't super popular. They don't make hundreds of thousands of dollars. I'm sure there's 50 bands that sound like this, but what band DOESN'T share sounds with one another? That's the whole point of genres and influences. Artists, more often than not, make music they like, and they obviously can't know what music they like unless they listen to other artists. Sure, you can hate the band, but saying they're exploiting the record industry when they aren't that wealthy is dumb.

  • shh

  • @W0NGS1FU Also, the music industry is the one that exploit the musicians, not the other way around.

  • troll

  • cry about it

  • These guys were a kick live.

  • saw this band last night at cleveland with deerhunter and mewithoutyou. bought their CD and got a picture. great band

  • same here man! front row man got a great view!

  • nice! i was damn close to the front. me and my sister threw flowers at the mewithoutyou guy! damn fun

  • sweet man! i was the tall skinny dude right in front with the striped tee haha.

  • The Dear Hunter, not Deerhunter... -.-

  • i heard the cd is great, i bought it off amazon

  • Saw this band play with The Dear Hunter in Lawrence, KS...I was impressed....

  • I was at that concert also. it was a great one. i have a couple vids up of it if you wanna see. but kay kay was great, we talked to the celo player later. cool due

  • this song is butter. jesus christ.

  • Isnt the vocalist from the wild orchid children?

  • Yupper, and the organ player is the same, I donno about anyone else.

  • the woman on the right appears to be doing nothing, occasionally clapping her hands but that's it?

  • She is probably a back up singer

  • haha yeah I know but it's just kinda silly when she plays air piano

  • i read somewhere that she is his sister and yeah shes just a backup singer

  • if you want to see his sister doing more than just air piano check out "man in the blue van". they are sick

  • she's his wife! :)

  • yeah, almost positive it's his wife. plus if your girl could sing, and you had a band, wouldn't you love to have her do back up vox?

  • i heard she's his niece

  • Nope, they're married and have a beautiful baby. Yay!

  • great song!

  • Reminds me a lot of The Format!

  • I agree.

  • oh thanks for ruining this for me

  • it was fun meeting all of them in seattle. great song.

  • jesus christ this song is genius

  • so great. kay kay rocks

  • they are self professed experimental indie. it's sweet.

  • what type of genre is this?

  • my guess would have to be, original and good. if you'd consider that a genre even.

  • cool. :)

  • these dudes used to be part of gatsby's american dream. also buhbomb.

  • retro.

  • love this song!

  • i love this song its song diverse and fun:O

  • where are they from ? i recently started listening to them and i really like them:)

  • whats the name of their album?

  • it's self titled

  • haha that was awesome

  • God I wish I could see them live.

No one comes out to where I live ;[

  • oh man i love these guys.

saw them with rxb in vegas. awesome show.

i have the dvd that has this show on it.

they have such a unique sound.

    just like rxb does.

  • i just saw them last night in san diego with rx and portugal. the man

    what a flawless tour.

    all three bands were perfect.

    kay kays' guitarist is awesome.

its old members from gatsbys american dream.

    such an awesome band.

they really bring a new sound to todays scene.

  • that sucks when you have great bands play a shitty venue. SOMA in San Diego has a great sound system and everything was really well balanced. i go to a lot hardcore and metal shows and its really hard to hear either guitar 1 or guitar 2 or you cant hear vocals or you hear both guitars and no vocals, its very inconsistent. so to see these guys had there shit together and the venues are well prepared was nice. southern california has awesome sound in venues those. the glasshouse is my favorite

  • I went to the RX show in the Glasshouse and SOMA and I gotta say Glasshouse was my favorite until I went to Soma. Soma sounds amazing!

  • what?!

i went to the rx bandits/portugal tour (sadly not even for the rx bandits) and kay kay didn't play!

they had some other shitty band.

  • I bet the "other shitty band" was Maps and Atlases. I saw that tour in Chicago at the Metro, and while I would, without question or hesitation, have gladly traded Maps and Atlases for Kay Kay, it was still an amazing set. Still, I really wish I lived closer to Seattle so I could see these guys.

SOMA is great, though. I saw Wild Orchid Children (one step closer to Kay Kay) with Portugal. The Man there and it blew my mind. And then there was Foxy Shazam...

  • saw them in SF with RX BANDITS. this band was pretty damn good. and she sings back up.

  • what the hell is up with the chick in the background?....is she " air guitaring "? hehe I mean, what is she doing there...i don't get it.

  • asian violin guy is the best!

  • Words cannot express how amazing this band is. It's like they took the very essence of Seattle and the surrounding area and wrapped it all up into songs.

Best band I've heard in a long, long time.

  • Seattle is pretty artsy but it's more modern art. If this music were to represent a city I would say San Fransisco would probably be a good one. Thats just my two cents though. I'm from Seattle BTW.

  • the best bands are from seattle

  • I work with Kyle the keyboard player haha...

  • I love this so much... I wish seattle was actually like this at all when you go there :P

  • i like how it has a 50 style swing to it.

  • Excellent.!

I wish I could find lyrics for bloodstone goddess though. :(

  • This song is nice!!!

  • so great wonderfulllll

  • bakire bi amcik gibi yawas ama guzel

  • genial

  • Love Kay Kay!

  • that has nothing to do with whether or not it's generic. It's not like the "genre" changes sound out of place either, which is what makes this such great music.

  • Thats true.

  • Comment removed

  • That's his wife. And that guitar player is beautiful.

  • It's normally easy to spot the wives of frontmen; they tend to just sing, or play tambourine.

  • great music! lyrics are aces baby aces!

  • Everybody, you can get the cd off of iTunes. I got it a couple weeks ago and it's just amazing.

  • will. your an idiot. and obviously dont know good music.

  • Kay Kay is smokin'....Bobby and Tori are so hot!

  • Kay Kay is so amazing.

  • wats the lyrics

  • Kay Kay is awesome. I miss Gatsby's but this helps.

  • Hi Tori! Hi Bobby! Hi Phillip! Tori, I'm in your mom's orchestra! :-) Seeya at summer sounds again next year.

  • all the things ive seem came to me in dreams, how true are those words

  • where can i find a cd?

  • the song is talking to me....... I'm a selfish bastard :)

  • Huh?

  • And you are the facilitator of your own creative evolution.

  • I actually think thats the point lol. to reamain undefineable. lightne up Will9248. its only a song. you didnt have to listen to the whole thing you could have left right in the middle of it and kept your peace. everyone has there likes.

  • thats exactly what makes them good. they're a whole plethora of timeless genres combined into one.

  • will9248 just go die somewhere please.

just because you can't label a musician in a certain category 2 seconds into a song doesn't give you the right to talk shit.

    learn some respect

  • i love them !

    they're awesome.

  • Did, anyone catch them on the Vera Stage at the Block Party?

  • Yes! That was one of the best concerts of my life. I was front row too! I hadn't heard of them before block party but i'm obsessed now haha

  • holy shit

  • Only one word can describe this.

    Fantastic

  • Awesome! You can catch them on TV when they perform on "Last Call with Carson Daly" Tuesday July 17 at 1:36am on NBC. Should be pretty sweet!

  • This stuff is amazing. Watch out because we're going to start reading about these guys everywhere.

  • yay pretty parlor!

  • Aloha from hawaii... you guys are crazy awesome. especially the sick break into a sorta reggae bassline. its some good stuff. bravo.

  • Big Philly Style swingin on chandeliers! Damn I wish I had been there. The music is hot.

  • Monsieur Quinn est si beau.
