Sorry for our brasilian friends but Dorando Petri won that marathon and they stole his gold medal due to USA formal protest, when Da Lima was blocked by that dumb Baldini was making a tremendous acceleration and his disanvantage was of 20/22 seconds with over than 7 kilometers left.

I remember watching this live. Even though I'm American and there was an American among the leaders of the race I started pulling for this guy after this incident. Felt bad when he was going to finish with the bronze but saw him dance his way down the finish and felt better. We need more athletes like this Lima character.

Sorry for our brasilian friends but Dorando Petri won that marathon and they stole his gold medal due to USA formal protest, when Da Lima was blocked by that dumb Baldini was making a tremendous acceleration and his disanvantage was of 20/22 seconds with over than 7 kilometers left.
Stefano Baldini that year had the best timing records in prev marathons so he would have won his victory anyway.
I know this won't comfort the brasilian friends, but unfortunately we all see a typical british ....

the guy came in third place didn't he? (although he was leading the marathon all the way through until the intrusion). i think i did remember that he was awarded some kind of fairplay medal (which was last given about 50 years ago to a british rowing team). now that's what i call a genuine sportsmanship.
