I think It looks like the Deep Sea Angler Fish. It is also called a the Seadevil or science terms it's called the Ceratias Holboelli. It uses the little antanna like thing with a "ball" on the end that ligtes up to attract it's prey. It is a deep water fish that's found in all the oceans in the world. Crazy to catch one and It is harmles to humans. Friggin looks like it's from Hell.

The ball things are actually male Angler fish. They latch onto the female because they act like a parasite. They cannot eat and rely on her for survival. Over time she absorbs them into her body. And then the only thing that is left is the males testicles! And that is what those balls are. Poor bastards.

@pujman actually, its testicles, the thing with the anglerfish is, the males are miniscule in size comparison, and they can't eat anything, they just swim, attach themselves to a female melt together and then the female has a full male on her for the rest of her life but the female secretes a toxin which kills everything in the male but the testes. thats a horrible way to live D:

It's an Angler fish, comes from (Davy Jones locker) depths of 2,000 to more than possibily 6,000 ft. This is the female that your looking at, the males are little globular parasitic balls like looking filliments that you touched on its back, males are mainly sperm sacks. what you have here my friend is a creature of the deep. this fish is from at least 4000 ft deep or more . it is built this way because of the extreme water pressure it lives in. a depth that would crush you or me.. the antennae with the ball on it , serves as a lure for smaller fish. some of the most ferocious looking animals are down there and may look like yours but may only be about 6 or 7 inches long. yours looks like a grand daddy. good catch!!! lol

I would have to agree with you. The angler has that lure that glows in the dark to attract prey.

It's a type of angler, not sure what kind though. The ones they typically find have larger mouths than that.

Anglers have that "amphibian" type skin rather than scales too. weird huh?

Looks like a deep sea angler to me. That shaft near it's head with the "ball" at the tip is a luring appendage that helps it attract prey. I'm not certain that it's an angler, though, just taking a guess.....Great job describing the body parts and features! Most posters just video tape it and don't bother to explain anything, which makes identification almost impossible.

Yup looks like the fish on finding Nemo. Angler Fish. It uses the long skinny piece with the ball on it like we use a fishing rod. A small fish approaches it and the angler fish swallows the fish whole.
