  • jews look like monkeys

  • I hated it when in the early 70's they tried to revive old series like Dick Van Dyke, Danny Thomas etc..there is something not right about seeing your old favorites from the 50's and 60's in 70's garb, bad hair, leisure suits, etc..I am so glad some old favorites we never got to see in the 70's like Desi Arnaz, can you imagine Desi, probably would have had a silk shirt unbuttoned ,with a perm and gold chains!

  • I was so glad when those long sideburns went out of style!

  • @TracyAndersonFoxhunt Who are you referring to with that stupid comment?

  • @SenhordoBonfim you, asshole

  • @TracyAndersonFoxhunt by the number of negative votes your stupid comment received, the asshole is you.

  • @SenhordoBonfim shutup monkey

  • @TracyAndersonFoxhunt Based on your stupid definition of a monkey, which was blocked from too many negative votes, you would be wrong. As you are wrong about Danny Thomas.

  • @SenhordoBonfim shutup kiker

  • @TracyAndersonFoxhunt Ok. Good luck with the misanthropy.

  • this is a good candidate for release on dvd..since it only ran 24 episodes, collectors and fans would snap it up..!

  • Danny Thomas' comeback show was good, but not watched by enough to warrent it lasting longer than a year.

"Pity the former star who tries to make a comeback."

  • @RJRanke

Here's the truth: the show did well enough in its first year that ABC thought it could take on the NBC Thursday Night Movie, so they moved it from Wednesday at 8 to Thursday at 9. It got clobbered, but ABC was going to keep it on. Danny said he wanted his old time slot back or he was done. ABC said they wanted to keep it on Thursday, so he walked.

That's my kid brother in the cowboy gear.

  • was so in love with angela cartwright

  • Funny that Danny Thomas' revival was on the network his original show started its run (A.B.C.).

  • Does anyone have any idea where or if we can get / see episodes of this show?

  • Thomas-Leonard Productions produced this series with danny thomas and sheldon leonard as executive producers from the 1970's of ABC's make room for granddaddy. filmed at warner bros studios in burbank, california.

  • Danny thought it was a good idea to revive the series in 1970, with almost all of the original cast (including Angela), and guest appearances by some of his old friends [Lucille Ball, Jack Benny, Bob Hope, Sammy Davis, Jr. etc.] with some new faces [Davy Jones, Diana Ross]- but most viewers were busy watching "THE MEN FROM SHILOH" {the "new and improved" version of "THE VIRGINIAN"} on NBC or "THE STOREFRONT LAWYERS" on CBS, when Danny appeared at 8pm(et) on Wednesdays. This lasted 24 episodes.

  • Man, is Danny Thomas's jacket ever designed by Jack Taylor!

  • Angela Cartwright at 0:26 ?

  • Thanks for posting. I've been dying to see anything related to Make Room For Granddaddy. Loved the original Make Room, but these are very hard to find!

  • Yeesh - did we really need to see this black-and-white relic from the 50s updated in the 70s - in color - complete with long hair and sideburns?

  • yeah I just found out Diana Ross was in one of them which I have never seen and would love to have as i keen collector of diana ross

  • Too bad there aren't any complete episodes of this on You Tube, or of the one-hour episodes of Thomas' sitcom that aired infrequently as part of "The Danny Thomas Hour" on NBC from 1967-68.

This (and Thomas' other sitcoms, essentially the same cast & format) was a great sitcom that has largely been forgotten, and ignored by broadcast & cable TV networks for years.

  • Although there are several episodes of the earlier ABC run (when the program was titled "Make Room For Daddy") in the public domain, the best being two, four-episode DVD sets by Critic's Choice.

And there are two, complete seasons' worth (1957-58; '58-'59) of the CBS run, when titled "The Danny Thomas Show." The first is a DVD set by Questar, the second DVD set by S'More Entertainment. Both are well worth the investment!
