To people who might want to purchase this game: I LOVE the original ToW and ToW Africa 1943, but this game...well it's kinda crappy. It's HORRIBLY optimized, buggy, and just generally seems like a rushed, untested game. It does have some new cool units, effects, stuff like that but...long story short, it's just not as good as the previous games. I guess I did still enjoy playing it but I'd give it 2 stars outta 5.

So, so many bugs, even on the latest patch. Too many to count. It's just constant, as soon as you've started getting angry at one glitch, another one comes up in its place. That's to say nothing of the "gray area" issues like units not doing what you tell them to, which is frequent. Whether that's a bug or soldiers realistically being stupid is your choice.

Men of War series is better. Potentially less realistic, but far less bugs. Avoid this game, they need to learn how to playtest properly.

@Zebro56 No they didn't, ToW is developed by 1C, MoW is developed by Bestway and Digitalmindsoft. Notice the difference between publishing and developing.

The only problem I have with Theater of War, Kursk in particular, is that it seems like there are never enough units given to you, either through manual selection or auto, to actually do the level, and when you try the same level from the other sides perspective (bare in mind...this is the same side that just rolled over my trench lines with 50 tanks) you still get barely enough to accomplish anything...even the reinforcements are pathetically low...

TOW is the most realistic traditional style strat game on the market. Games like TacOps and Combat Mission I would argue are more realistic, but less traditional.

Well Theatre of War (both the original, ToW 2, this and the centaro expansion) is very realistic, you probably wont find any tactial wargames as realistic as this, Men of War and Faces of War are realistic when it comes to armor combat and so on, but stuff like range and historical accuracy is far inferior than ToW, I would go with ToW if I was you then maybe later Men of War if you want a semi-realistic small skirmish brawl

there is a Kursk demo out now, but its in Russian. however, its not a problem. Overall, Kursk seems to be just a slight "step-up" from ToWCentauro. You can enter & fight in buildings now. One big problem I noticed is that its almost impossible to use infantry. long range accuracy is amazing and as soon as you bring infantry out in the open, they will all die in seconds... realistic, maybe but it ruins gameplay and isnt much fun. Look for the demo at the Battlefront website in one of the posts
