  • The woman at the start is Swedish model Madleen Kane. (It says that in Japanese on the bottom-right.)

  • which generation is this?

  • looks a bit like nicole kidman

  • wow! if that 7 and 8 were city and highway mpg numbers that would not be good! of course gas wasnt much of an expense then as it is now but still

  • ha, what do you think this is a chevy?? they got 30mpg in 79

    it says

    which is

the presentation is going to be on

    april 7 saturday - april 8 sunday

  • I'm hoping this was just a joke, but if not:

Have you been living under a rock? Even if those were fuel efficiency numbers, they wouldn't use MILES per GALLON. They use metric units, like the rest of the world does

  • Japanese car ads were great. Famous stars appeared.

  • Why are all these Japanese car ads featuring white people?

  • I wonder about it, too.

Still, it doesn't limit to the commercial of the car, and there is

    such a tendency.

  • @mycub colonial mentality much?

  • People? There's only one white dude.. I see a Japanese woman, too.

  • 1) Lady with the hat at the beginning; 2) white dude against wall. Yeah, there was an Asian woman at the end. So people not person.

  • @freeballer81 At that time (not just in Japan but in most of Asia), the West is still seen as a benchmark of quality - therefore a product must be of good quality if (even) a Westerner use it. It's an issue of brand image. In the 70s, domestic products in Japan is still somewhat perceived as inferior compared to imported products (which was not always true) and Japanese manufacturers are always trying to 'polish' their image - i.e. to appear more 'international'.
