i have a very similar setup, just 16GB 300x SLC transcend. After year and something of writing the card gets stuck for 3-7s sometimes. I recommend using enhanced write filter with these...

i`m using a mini-IDE to CF adapter from ebay. the price was around 10€.
A CF-card in a notebook is a handy thing, its faster than the build-in HDD and its absolutely quiet. viva la SSD
