I have been with ARchos for years. Recently my Archos 5 broke becasue I droped it into a fucking swiming pool but im still getting the Arcos 4.3 because Archos = AWESOME!

I think Archos made a good move putting Android on the new Archos range, if they still had that shitty version of Linux I woould just go there and kill them and rape their family, metaphorically ofc.

This was straight from the official Archos website. No.1 .AVI.

So yes, it's does play .AVI files.

i have an archos 7, i love it, occasional web reboot but nothng drastc, I love the temp cleanup feature and the reset. Only flaw is it plays flash 9 LIGHT and very few sites will allow flash 9 to view on the 5 or 7. Hopefully a firmware update will sort it.

this review is runed only because of the way he goes on about flash 9.

email is dead easy to setup, browsing is wifi and quick, videos with the plugin are astounding IT PLAYS VOB!!! (get all plugins on ebay for $30), awesome sound too.

Well just from watching this he said this has built in Flash support. where as the iPod does not. (as far as i know). the Archos 5 can also play movies in 720P, and can be used as a DVR... Need I say more :)

It depends on how do you get connected. You can get it from your cell phone operator via 3G protocol (e.g. AT&T) and then connect your phone to the tablet by bluetooth. Archos can't be compared with the iPod touch, the iPod is a mini-computer whereas the Archos is mainly a entertainment device! It's good for video playback because it has a gigantic screen. If you want a mp3 that does video right get a archos or a Zune HD, the screen is smaller but the OLED screen makes a difference!

Only for H264, AAC audio, Mpeg2, AC3 audio or 720p HD DivX/WMV video codecs. Most people don't need those features. You can get all those for $30 in the codec pack. That's really not expensive.

It might be compatible with Dish DVR soon using the USB2 connection. If Comcast does DRM on their recordings or uses unsupported HD resolutions then it won't work. You can record on the Archos using a video output between your Comcast box and your TV.

yeah, it's worth it. Personally, i didn't really like the all touch approach because when I'm playing music i can't change it from inside my pocket. The internet is also a bit buggy, but pretty cool. the way this thing does video though, it makes it ABSOLUTELY worth it!
