  • I own a '96 GL, and it still runs great! Placing all one's hopes in SUV sales is always taking a chance...They did bring the Bull back in a full sized version, though...

  • eww the ford taurus is the uglyiest most worst piece of crap on this earth. those who drive one should be ashamed.

  • But then the Taurus came back. With a huge improvement.

  • well Taurus has a bad rep for alot of mechincal issues which started in the mid 1990's that when Accord and Camry over took the market!

  • @japnikki it wasnt mechanical issues it was the 1996 redesign it still retained top selling car in america in 96 but lost to the camry and accord but still remained #3 till i think 2003. but sales weren't far behind about 318,000 a year the issues are just blown out of proportion by the taurus haters/jelious people

  • awsome!

  • The Taurus was a great car. I know I worked my butt off building them, from 1985 to 1996 when I retaired. I started work in Atlanta at the assembly plant in 1965. All the cars I worken on the Taurus was built longer and sold the best. I drove them every day on the job and loved the ride and how they handled.

  • @mrsamuelization I know I thank you for helping to build America's greatest sedan and station wagon. That'd be a nice job I bet, hot and humid at many times, but great :)

  • @mrsamuelization im 27 years old and i'm not an american. my younger brother was into japanese cars mainly because of style but when he test drove ford taurus 1994, the engine is so smooth and the ride was so comfortable he fell inlove with the taurus. he sold his japanese cars and has owned 2 ford taurus 1994. he sold the other one to me and i've had it for 5 years now. NEVER had a major engine problem. they're really BUILt well. american cars can be great again.

  • @mrsamuelization they brought the taurus back you know

  • @mrsamuelization they are greeat cars i have had 4 of them i love them all

  • yeah talking down ford, haha now look at gm, and chrysler, they are in debt and ford is doing great.

  • I love my 2007 Taurus,it handles well,is responsive and is good on gas,I hate the look of the new ones,oh did I mention dependable? YES.

  • At 1:42 it looks like there is a Taurus Mueseum. Does anyone know where that is. As crazy as it sounds, I would like to go there.

  • I have my third Taurus. I love them all! I hope Ford can pull this new one off. I want to believe in them, hopefully I will be able to continue too...

  • im just glad its back and in a good direction

  • this video was posted in 2006. I know taurus was built into 2007 because rental car companies were buying them. I think taurus was available in 2008 as a renamed ford five hundred. So the car never really died completely to my knowledge.

  • @kwg2005 the taurus had a very short 2007 model year because the taurus was discontiued in september of 06 the revived as the 500 replacement in june of 07 for the 2008 model year

  • @MRBRAD9070 Taurus's were made in 06 and 07....They were only sold for fleet purposes, but I have a 2007.

  • @Xziau1 the model years went into 07 but they only sold like 75000 tauruses for the 07 built in 06 because most car manufacturers sel the next year at the end of the year. the atlanta plant where the tauruses were built was idled on september 8 at 9:00am.

  • @MRBRAD9070 Yeah....I like my 2007 Taurus...I wish the stereo was better, but Ill replace the speakers later on....I'm only adding small modifications to it now.

  • @Xziau1 i love all the sounds and beeps the 96-07 taurus and 96-05 sable make. the door opening/closing, the belt minder, the engine when it starts and when your accelerating. my mom used to have a 02 sable and i miss it alot but my brother fried the engine after the headgasket blew at 124k

  • @MRBRAD9070 yeah they are much nicer than they use to be. My mother had the 91 Sable a long time ago. She has a 2004 Taurus now and its been a good car so far.. I think Tauruses are good cars the only weak spots are probably the transmission and the speakers.

  • The Taurus has finally been properly resurrected.

    A wrong has been righted.

  • A wrong has been rabbitized and multiplied. Who wants an oversized fugly Focus for 40K?

  • 40K if you purchase the top of the line with every option you can get.

Sure, it's no Mondeo, but at least Ford is seriously trying and the car does look decent, especially up close.

As for the Focus, I'm looking forward to that wrong being righted for the 2010 model year where we finally get to see to kind of Focus that Europe's been driving.

  • Taurus was a failure. The failure is revived for now. But it will fail again in a few years. A few years later, Ford will revive it again, this time with the ugly retro look of 90s taurus models.

    ROFL!

  • Unfortunately, by the time Retro Taurus rolls out of the production line in about 15 years, it will have a slightly different name on the plate: "Tshing Tao Ford"

    ROFL!

  • What's so funny about that?

If it happens, then it happens because they didn't do what they should have to keep it from happening. What can I do about that? But, right now, they have a chance to keep it from happening, so I hope they don't blow it.

But, what's really sad are that one of your automakers, Lamborghini, is owned by Volkswagen.

  • As for Fiat, we'll see what they'll do to Chrysler. But, if Daimler Benz couldn't turn them around, what makes you think Fiat can?

If anything, it was interesting what happened to Daimler Benz with their buyout of Chrysler. Instead of Daimler changing Chrysler to build cars the way Mercedes-Benz did it, it went the other way; they ended up with Benz cars the way Chrysler built them: BAD. Chrysler was a cancer to Daimler.

The same thing can easily happen to Fiat and I admit, Chrysler SUCKS.

  • Can you even you big people talk? How old are you 12? bet you don't even remember the Taurus name being unveiled?

Let's put it this way, if any of Ford was a failure, like you claim it to be, how come they didn't take a bail out like the STILL failing GM and Chrysler?

But I don't expect you to figure that out, as it's apparent you don't research before you talk. $40k huh? You like ALL the bells and whistles don't you

    ROFL!

  • The Taurus was a success from the 1980s and early-mid 1990s before it became a failure around 1996 and on.

As for it failing in a few years, maybe, maybe not. If the leadership keeps a consistent vision, which is what we're seeing from Alan Mullaly, Ford might actually get themselves somewhere. But if he's ever replaced, then the bets are off.

  • Hopefully ford can rebound with the 2010 model. I miss the goood old days of gens I and II everywhere. Now they are getting scarce :(

  • so much for this news story ;)

    glad it's coming back.

anyone wanna donate their old 05 engine? could use a good home in my focus :B

  • 165K on my 1995 taurus SHO. I love driving it and its never given me a problem. I think this review is sooo right people never saw how good the taurus really was and the 2010 is going to be amazing!!

  • I love Ford taurus/mercury Sable.

  • being wiseass...american automakers...

if one sells good one year? next year model they take small things out or replace with cheaper material without notification.... I always saw that in American's (GM.Ford.Chrysler) Now they are in I fell and can't get up situation... Cheating your customers and now you guys got it.. Deserve what they are now...

Foreign makers aren't same.. they are honest.. not like caddy shares its part with chevy.. and lincoln shares with ford.. not a true luxury...`

  • I work for Enterprise Rent A Car and they had 2006 to 2007 cars. those two years were for fleets(ie Renal Cars, Government Agencies)

  • my for taurus is great running car

  • I have a 1994 model with 160K miles.

  • i have a 2004 model with 130k running strong

  • Lets hope the new 2010 taurus is built as well as its previous models... Mine has 238,000 miles and still looks great and runs like new..at 235,000 miles i did a headgasket but overall its an excellent car..

  • That ford dealer guy hit the nail on the head. Luckily ford is learning from their mistakes or selling what is popular. I roll my eyes at the people that bitch about how US car manufacturers focused to much on Trucks and SUVs. IT IS WHAT THE PEOPLE WANTED! The new Taurus though reminds me of the first Taurus, well built and what not. Long live Ford, long live the Taurus.

  • The Mistake Ford made was for so many years Fucking this car over...MAking costly trims down when they should have been spending more on the Taurus. When this car puts Ford back where they belong which is Number 1..I hope they will remeber not to ever fuck any car over the was so dam popular...The F150 and Taurus has outsold ever dam car known to man!!!Now after Ford does this is the F150's time to reign above Gm and Chrysler and show them what a real truck is..Not that it isnt now but a better 1

  • by the way.... agreeing with you and I hope they don't, cause they already did it with the focus. I know they'll screw us over with that again. the 2011 looks like SHIT.

  • But the F150 is getting a 2New Engines a Diesel and a 6.2 V8 putting out 400hp. A word is the 302 5.0 is comin back into production pushing over 400+hp prob goin into the F150 and Stang. But Ford is seriuos about the all new twin turbo thing. like 90% of Ford Vehicles by 2011 will have them.Just thing what a 320hp mustang plus twin turbos would put out? Plus the mustang's v8 sound better and versus liter size is better than the Camaro's 6.2

  • mhmm yeah... damn I hope they put the 302 back in there :)

    ecoboost for the win.

  • wait until the next gen Taurus, due out in 2010/2011 it's going to put the Taurus back on the map.

  • Not at the base price of 26K....

  • You do understand that the new Taurus is nothing like the old Taurus. The New Taurus is larger, a lot more powerful and a lot more better quality then any Taurus before it. It's well worth the 26 grand. This isn't your fleet sale Taurus anymore.

  • Comment removed

  • Yet the Taurus relived!

  • i have a 93 ford taurus and i love it! the car only has 95,000 miles on it

  • the new taurus is not the same as the original.

it is the five hundred renamed as the taurus

  • the sable is beatiful i really hope they wouldent stop it in 2010 the 2010 taurus looks like a merceces... but i guess mercury has the milan that sells good in there sedan market so ford does have to spend the extra money

  • I own a taurus... but i can't say i'm glad it's back.. i don't like the new look so i'm not all that ecstatic.

  • change is good. just wait until you get your hands on one. or a sable!

  • I own a 1994 model and I rented a 2009 on my last holiday trip.

  • Hey, at 2:15 if you look through the windshield you can see that there's no one driving... The Taurus must have been added to the scene by computer so they could make it fade out like that.

  • wow, we're alot alike 'cept I'm a year and a 1/3 younger than ya... hey, are you tryin' to get a farm car like i am?

  • Well, this video is only from December of 2006 and actually the tempo turned into the contour which turned into the focus. the taurus is an original car once it came out until 2006. Then after it was reinstated, its just not the same car.

  • Ford didn't bring back the Taurus from death, they stuck Taurus badges on the Five-Hundred and gave it a little facelift.

  • this vid is old, the tauri is back with a vengence. I have a 2000 SE, its a good car.

  • Hey, I call 'em that too! and yeah, they're great cars

  • I had a 1990 ford taurus wagon. IUt had some propblems but all and all a great car and I miss the rust bucket. And one more thing, I am happy that for brought back the name Taurus, but its just a five hundred with a name change. They need to build a vehicle to fit the name, not just rename a failing vehicle to boost its image.

  • Most Ugliest????? You need grammar lessons.

  • it lasts long (dad had one.. lasted 145k miles 1992-2001 and still running when traded it in)

    good gas mileage

    cheap

  • The oval Taurus was the most areodynamic. They changed it because people didn't like it. If they put the newer Vulcan or Duratec into the Generation III version it would be one of the most fuel efficient sedans available. Do your research before you start assuming making an ass out of yourself.

  • Never say ever, because you never know. People thought the Taurus was dead never to see the light of day again, but Ford brought it back.

  • And I bet I'm not the only one that's glad that they brought it back

  • No. I drive two Tauruses. a 1989 LX and a 1999 SHO. I am also glad and relieved they braught the girls back!

    GOD BLESS THE FORD TAURUS!

  • Yeah, "The Ford Taurus, The Cadillac of Fords"

  • @ActiveWorldsLunitic ur not. I remember when I was 8 or 9 years old in 1993 1994. These cars were really sharp, and the most popular cars on the road. I owned a 1994 Ford Taurus, and now I own a 2003. I loved them both.

  • @MusicMike1285 My grandma used to have a '94 Ford Taurus GL when I was 8 (Ironic isn't it?), with the optional center console, and it was one of the nicest cars we had.

Tauruses had been my favorite car for a long time, but my "first" car (I've had 4, I'm just not counting them, because I had them for like, a week at a time before I got rid of them), a Volvo 850, is definitely stiff competition.

  • @ActiveWorldsLunitic My Grandma had a 1988 Chrysler LeBaron which my Uncle still has. My Aunts Husband had a 1993 Ford Taurus station wagon as a company car. After my dad saw it, he liked it and my parents bought a 1994 Mercury Sable station wagon which was basically the same thing. Sadly we didn't have that car anymore, my mother wrecked it, then my dad bouht a 1995 Pontiac Trans Sport.

  • @ActiveWorldsLunitic The 1994 Ford Taurus I had didn't have the center console, it had the bench seat. However, the 2003 Ford Taurus SE I have now has the center console and thats one of the things I love about it. I can keep alot of my cd's and tapes in that compartment lol

  • @MusicMike1285 Yeah, that's the only thing about my Volvo, you can barely fit anything in the console, it's only like 2" deep, which is weird considering the height of the console itself.

  • Many others seemed to have disagreed. A lot of people (considering myself too) love the Taurus, I can't think of a more perfect design in my book.

  • i had a 95 taurus and i didnt like one thing which was the door panels. after a while they squeeked. my 96 taurus i loved, no squeeks and quite. it is a great car just ford ran it into the ground. like this video said american car companies are more geared to gas guzzling SUV's. now i drive a honda accord and wont go back.

  • was a sad day in automotive history, great to see shes returned

  • First of all, the '84 Lincoln Mark VII was the first American car with flush headlights. Second, Ford never should have put anyone at the head of the company just because his last name was Ford. And third, they completely botched the Explorer/Firestone tire recall. And the less said about Jacque Nasser's money-wasting nameplate buying spree, the better.

    I don't envy Allan Mullaly.

  • I have a 1990 Taurus, 275k miles on it. Still runs fine, I use it as my back up car. Its more reliable than my 2005 Toyota Camry

  • =(

  • I had a 1992 sable (same car), it ran wonderfully and had minimal problems, picked it up for 100 bucks, drove it a year before buying a newer one with less miles. Own a 1994 taurus LX and love it to death... works great at almost 150,000, the radio stinks, but the ride is cushy :) I will drive it till it dies, then buy another.

  • My parents have a 98 taurus. The transmission now mis-shifts all the time, and you have to bang on the dashboard to turn the radio on. But hey, my uncle's 2-year old benz e320's a/c stopped working on one side.

  • yeah, gotta love those junk mazda transmissions they used

  • Hey-They rebadged the 500. It's now the Taurus...

  • That old ad in the beginning is on this site!

  • search for 1986 Ford Taurus TV Commercial if you are looking for it.

  • I love the Taurus. I wish they would have kept it. The Fusion is awesome though.

  • I will never sell my 2005 Ford Taurus. Love it death and wish I could buy a SHO. Did you love your Taurus today?

  • I have to say that it is infact ironic and rather symbolic that the Taurus came to an end as Ford hit rock bottom. You know though, that the looney lefty powers that be at ABC are never going to pass up attacking "gas guzzling SUVs". Let's face it, that was the whole premise of this story in the first place.

  • That dealer is right. You know he is referring to the pathetic-looking Scion cars from Toyota. Just plain ugly. I'm the proud owner of a 2005 Taurus. Rather than trade my 1996 Taurus GL, I gave it to my brother and he recently reported the vehicle now has over 173,000 mileson it ... and it still runs flawlessly

  • Ford IS its own worst enemy! Why in the HELL wasn't the 3rd Generation SHO available with a manual transmission and a "Heavy Duty" clutch from the factory? Ford needs to take a page out of Honda's playbook and step their damned game up. I know two things; Americans HATE Fords and perception is often more important than reality.

  • I'll never sell my 86' Taurus LX either :`(

  • Ya, the fusion is better and more modern, but the report is right, tauruses are VERY reliable and dependable and unfortuneately, very underrated cars. I drove a 2001 and I would never have traded it for an import, it was an excellent car especially for the $4K price. Poeple are too gullible, they believe everything Consumer Reports tells them. I'm surprised there's not an "import promotional" nationwide magazine that lists every positive thing and no negative thing about the car.

  • What a slanted report. No mention of the new Fusion or the Five Hundred. Boo ABC.

  • Exactly. Funny that there is all this boo-hooing now that the Taurus is finally going out of production. These were the same type of people that ripped on the Taurus only a few short years ago as being a rental queen; now that Ford has a superior car out called the Fusion, killing the Taurus is suddenly a grave mistake.

The Taurus was a great car and did wonders for Ford in the 1980s, but it's time to move on. The Fusion and Five Hundred are much better cars in pretty much every way.

  • I love my sable, and I am proud to be a bull driver!

  • I'll never sell my 1991 Taurus, thats for sure.
