i had those vegas, the tip flew off during warmups, and right then and there we decided we were switching to Pro-Mark asap,then BD switched, and now the TS8's are the promark version of the old scojo vegas, and they are a bit beefier with a more evenly distributed weight, and awesome control and responce all the way from the tip to the butt.

@jamieman28 It's what gives marching snares their unique sound. They sound extremely less bright, unlike the concert snares you hear in rock bands. These "parade" snares have to be sharp and quick, because their's a lot going on; Triplets, Doubles, Paradiddles.
