Sony more than made up for it and we had a million things we could still do, single player games, netflix, blu ray, full internet browser all worked. Just couldn't go to PS Store or play online for 3 weeks. We got 2 highly ranked games, weekend of hd movies, PS+ for a month (lots of free stuff) and credit protection just in case.

Xbox only gave 1 crappy game when it was hacked in 2007 down for 2 weeks
