The song is actually inspired/about a western starring Robert Redford called Jeremiah Johnson. This is one of my faves from Ceremony and I recently bought the film to check out what influenced Ian..the film is awesome and violent, I'm afraid the fairies etc couldn't be further from the truth. Still, well done though :-)

@a14fea You are correct. This song was influenced ( per Ian) by Jeremiah Johnson- an excellent film I saw many years before Ian even wrote the song. Glad you still liked the video- and the artistic license I took with my interpretation of the video. CFFC

this and bangkok rain are definetely in the top catagory in the acid type rock type of long songs of all time. Believe you me from a kid you lived through the 50's. 60's, and 70's. It ranks right up there with iron buttery flay and grand funk rail road in there stoner days when the made great thought provoking long songs that a person could just relax, get layed back, turn off all the lights for no distractions and soak in the music like a sponge.
