@Themsbeatlesrock It's just a fantastic album. It really shed light on The Who as a band, and how a a concept album could reach across so many generations. I mean, here I am, just a normal 22-year old girl who wasn't even thought of when this was released, yet I love it, just like I love certain pieces of music that come out today. I love every song on Tommy, and the movie is awesome too. I really came to love the band after that, and I will forever now. Hope that answers your question.
I played this song backwards to find out what those "whale noises" are and it's Pete playing slide guitar with delay...fucking gnarly! Also sommeone missed the thumbs up...
@MandyMedical ahh, how about tommy? the movie based on the album in like 77 i think. yeah that should be the movie everyone would know it from but no....
I can shit you not, The only other bass line that recognizable would be my generation, But to me, Something about this bass line just burns into my brain, It might be a slight exaggeration, Birdland has an catchy bass line, But I'm not exaggerating when I say This is the most recognizable bass line from any rock and roll group.
No dude, you ARE indeed exaggerating when you say that this is the most recognizable bass line from any rock & roll group.
I'd like to say that Day Tripper, Dazed & Confused, My Generation, N.I.B., Money, & Ace of Spades are far more recognizable to people than this song.
The Who are one of my favorite groups, this is my favorite song off of Tommy & Entwistle is the best bassist of all time...but I don't think I have the naivety to even make a claim that this is the most recognizable bass line

Are you kidding me?!
Sure, it's wonderful & all...but "the most recognizable bass line from any music piece in history"?!
Are YOU MAD?!
My Generation is much more recognizable than this.
m0dsar3us 2 years ago
I can shit you not, The only other bass line that recognizable would be my generation, But to me, Something about this bass line just burns into my brain, It might be a slight exaggeration, Birdland has an catchy bass line, But I'm not exaggerating when I say This is the most recognizable bass line from any rock and roll group.

Obviously this is my opinion, but I am Not exaggerating when I say this is the most recognizable bass line.
havepie 2 years ago
@havepie
Why did you just contradict yourself?
And this song is not popular enough to be the most recognizable anything.
I like it just as much as you...but it's not recognizable to someone who doesn't listen to this band.
m0dsar3us 2 years ago
I'm sorry, Are you telling me my opinion is false? Well, Guns don't hurt people, Gluttony isn't a sin, and your retarded.
havepie 2 years ago
You said that this bass line was the most recognizable in history...and that you were not exaggerating.
You weren't stating an opinion.
And...it would be "you're" retarded. Not Y-O-U-R.
