And not by having better trained soldiers or more sophisticated stuff.
So a real reform would be to get support in arabic countries instead of declaring them all as terrorist. One possible solution is to get an end of the conflict in Israel.
Because, like in Iraq, the soldiers did not know who the enemy was, and often ended up shooting civilians. They couldn't diferenciate between soldiers and civilians because the soldiers didn't have uniform.

A sensible documentary. Billions are being spent or have on amazing weaponry such as stealth etc. These weapons are unnecessary against guerilla armies who are americas real threats. Technology doesnt always win wars vietnam is a perfect example. Research would be better spent/done on how to improve the armour and defence of the basic infantryman.

The lesson of Somalia and Vietnam is that you can't win a war if you don't have the support of the people living there.
And not by having better trained soldiers or more sophisticated stuff.
So a real reform would be to get support in arabic countries instead of declaring them all as terrorist. One possible solution is to get an end of the conflict in Israel.

Because, like in Iraq, the soldiers did not know who the enemy was, and often ended up shooting civilians. They couldn't diferenciate between soldiers and civilians because the soldiers didn't have uniform.

The US didn't liberate these people, in fact they supported a regime which cancelled an election for the unification of vietnam which probably the communists would have won.
The US lost the support of the civilians and therefore the war was much more expensive than expected. Surely the US could have won this war, but the price woud have been wiping out a large amount of the Vietnamese population. That the American people didn't support that speaks for them!

That is definitely true. However, it should not be proposed that winning a war through technological superiority is IMPOSSIBLE... It's just that the technology gap must be VERY significant (a few decades isn't going to cut it).

You can win every war by
A) whiping out the population
B) Winning the sympathy of the population
C) showing the population that resistance is futile
However, in the last case you have to expect passive resistance and an uprising as soon as you loose control over a region. (Good examples are the North American Indians)
For me winning a war means that you finally can walk through this land without beeing harmed, that these people finally see you as a friend, not as an enemy.
