Actually, most of the crime in America comes from the parts where guns are most strictly regulated.
The parts where the "gun culture" is most ingrained (outside the Deep South) are the parts with by far the lowest crime.

Cop out sorry imo. Of course you want to protect yourself and your loved ones, but wouldn't it be better if there wasn't crime to fear and protect against in the first place? Why not refuse to vote for a party unless they dealt with social unfairness, that has proven to be the reason for crime. To say that social implications such as bad parenting or lack of moral guidance isn't a factor is truly laughable. You sound like a responsible parent, not all children are as lucky as yours.

Disarm? In the UK we aren't allowed firearms, I take it this is what you are referring to? The law or policy call it what you will that is being mentioned is protection, and how far that reaches within the realms of the law. When a person encroaches or takes away your human rights by entering your house, threatening your family and making you fear for your life, why should they be the only ones with their rights fully intact?
I do understand criminals may be affected by societal factors that draw them to crime, but victims of crime also find themselves faced with extroadinary circumstances that force them to act in a purely instinctual manner to survive.
