The film with good but its plot is a bastardization of Patrick O'Brians books. It seems to be loosely based on the Far side of the world, but guess what the enemy was an american ship during the war of 1812. But in the days of that wouldN't of been PC to make a film along those lines. The Bocherini and vivaldi are true to the plots of the books but what the FCK have whitesnake to do with anything? Shame that Patrick O'Brian died before finishing book 21.
Look I love the movie but this shit is why the internet is evil lol. I don't think this is what O'Brian intended when he wrote it, nor do I think you should share your obsession of Russel Crowe. Plus the rock ballad blows asshole.

What kind of equipment do you need to make these? How do you get movie footage, just use camcorder to record TV screen? What kind of software? I would love to make a music video like this. Thanks if you can tell me.
I think this was Russel Crowes greatest film. I don't like him in other films, but here he performed surprisingly well. Not to mention, that the film itself was spectacular.
Currently up the Ionian Mission in the series, but from I can see of Jack Aubrey I think Russel Crows did a fantastic job in depicting him as close the Lucky Jack of the books. Like to the think O'Brian would have been happy with his performance too!
it was originally a book. what was wrong with the plot? French ship near Brazil, English ship gotta chase it and fuck it up. seems an alright plot to me
There are 20 books all written by Patrick O'Brian, one unfinished (a result of Patrick o'Brians death) The movie is great, the books trump it ten-fold. You can purchase the books at Barnes & Noble. They are titled:
One flaw in the logic of this movie was at the very end. The French Captain passes himself off as the doctor to escape capture. That could not have worked because he would have been called upon to be a doctor to the French casualties - and he wouldn't be able to do it. Also, it is certain that he would have been recognized by someone who would have betrayed his true identity.
The only person who recognised him was Maturin, and we don't know le Vigny didn't have any medical knowledge/training. Besides, it didn't matter that he might be recognised - he planned to release his crew and retake the Acheron as soon as he was a safe distance from Aubrey, and the officers on the Surprise were to young to have been to France and become extensively familiar with the French naval officer corps before war broke out.

you know, I didn't really care for the plot of the movie, etc. But Bettany and crowe, both VERY talented, in the same movie..pretty darn awesome.

From 5 through to 7 seconds in you got a nice hi8 effect on the footage, what filter of what post-prod program did you use for that?
