You're not supposed to use Bong Sau to block and in Wing Chun ,we don't block ,we deflect and move it away. exactly what i was going to put, he is diluting the pureness of wing chun with wing tsun. the direct line of teaching is VingTsun or in chinese 咏春拳 YongChunQuan i study under Master Wang Zhi Peng who is keeping the lineage pure.
If you check out all the other schools online sites every single one of the WC schools clearly state they are traditional which = shit. The WT school is the only one that states it's practical. I know the other ones are missing there higher forms and applications.

I partly agree with you. Since there is no real transcriptions for chinese there are many styles of wrtiting the name: WT, WC, VC, you name it. BUT there are also differences between those shortcuts as well as Wing Tsun Leung Ting is different from Avci Wing Tsun.

And just so that you know, I trained Wing Chun for 5 years when I was younger. I gave it away in the end in favour of boxing because I wished to compete.
And in the end I honestly believe the 14 years I've spent boxing, the 6 I've spent training Muay Thai and my recent grappling experience are just about the best possible things I could have trained from a self-defence perspective.
I've also recently started a reality-based class held at the same place as I train Judo.

It seems like you don't have a clue about martial arts. Leung Ting was a closed door pupil from Sigung Yip Man. He knows techniques that not too many Masters know. I've seen demonstration in person made by Leung Ting and let me tell you, he has amazing stand (4 people couldn't pull his legs apart tied with ropes left and right. He's Chi-Sao (Sticky Hands) technique is impossibly fluent, fast and powerful. He has such breathing and body control which today not too many masters have.

I am not from Leung Ting School, but let me ask you..can you or your teacher take him on, or even his students students..such as Emin. So stop bashing him for making money from WC. He knows the true way but he is so adept that he has the luxury of deviating from the traditional. There are only a few others that are better and he has done more for propogating WC than anyone except Yip Man or Bruce Lee!

Wing Tsun system is a very good system. It's fluid,not as hard as Wong Shun Leung's and now Grandmaster Gary Lam. I respect Wong as probably one of the greatest Wing Chun masters. However,saying that Leung Ting's Kung Fu is a joke is not knowing anything about it,and ofcourse,disrespectful.

@Svemocn1Vidar I did train The wing tsun system as well as other wing chun systems out there. I actually met a few practitioners thru the wing tsun system that were actually very good. One of them actually training for 7 years! And that is how I came to my conclusions from going forth and back with him. And we both kinda agreed. I came at this from a neutral point of view.. wanting to learn the best system before I wasted my time. I might have been hash in my statement though :)
If you embrace whatever you're learning with wide open arms,no time will be wasted. Things must be tried out to discover what works best for you.I also learned one important thing : Whoever is teaching you and whatever system that may be,be grateful and respectful. Such atitude will certainly get you something in return. I tried Cheung' system first,it didnt work for me. Now i train Wing Tsun and it works better for me. Once i get the chance,i will try WSL system as well. All the best!

The styles are only slightly different just as every master has different variations of kung fu he teaches. The main difference is that sifu wong is a stand prominent art rather than an art of equal measure. Leung ting isnot a disciple of the same master rather of a variation of the masters original school

Hey Supralee, I would like to clear some things up for you. You are correct when you say WC looks when fighting someone of the same style. What you are missing is that no matter what style you fight against, WC was not meant to be flashy. It was meant to be effective and that it is. You have get out of the mindset that "My system is better than yours" and explore each ones effectiveness. Good Luck.
wing chung has some good basic exercises but there are also much unreal stuff in it and repeating and repeating them over and over makes one fight robotlike manner.but it is deeper than karate.

They look the same always because Kung Fu itself doesnt always look good on film. Very precise moves. Ive practiced two forms of Martial arts. Mayb you should challenge an instructor. exactly what i was going to put, he is diluting the pureness of wing chun with wing tsun. the direct line of teaching is VingTsun or in chinese 咏春拳 YongChunQuan i study under Master Wang Zhi Peng who is keeping the lineage pure.

If you check out all the other schools online sites every single one of the WC schools clearly state they are traditional which = shit. The WT school is the only one that states it's practical. I know the other ones are missing there higher forms and applications.

The system was made for SELF DEFENSE not for show purposes and I wouldn't say that it's ineffective. How long did you train WT (or WC if you like), or did you train it at all?
I partly agree with you. Since there is no real transcriptions for chinese there are many styles of wrtiting the name: WT, WC, VC, you name it. BUT there are also differences between those shortcuts as well as Wing Tsun Leung Ting is different from Avci Wing Tsun.
Don't get me wrong, I just want to make things clear.

That is a common misnomer, often quoted, which is one of the worst hinderances to effective self-defence training.
In actually, any martial art designed for self-defence should have alive training as an even higher priority. And the benefits of competition for skill improvement and motivation, as well as a means of pressure-testing the basics of combat, are enormous.
In short, generally speaking arts which make the claim to be purely for self-defence and don't compete are often inadequate.

And just so that you know, I trained Wing Chun for 5 years when I was younger. I gave it away in the end in favour of boxing because I wished to compete.
And in the end I honestly believe the 14 years I've spent boxing, the 6 I've spent training Muay Thai and my recent grappling experience are just about the best possible things I could have trained from a self-defence perspective.
I've also recently started a reality-based class held at the same place as I train Judo.

+leung ting WAS aclosed door student of yip man. Yip man had several closed door students but they were all taught with subtle differences. thats why leung ting and wong sheung leung's technique looks so diferent. leung ting was also given the honor of filming yip man weeks before his death to help document the wing chun system.

Leung Ting? A Master? he is a marketer not a fighter. Look at his techniques when he fights. His body is not in unity, his limbs are all over the place. Also, he cocks his hand when he punches. Very unskilled and unbalanced. What a joke!

It seems like you don't have a clue about martial arts. Leung Ting was a closed door pupil from Sigung Yip Man. He knows techniques that not too many Masters know. I've seen demonstration in person made by Leung Ting and let me tell you, he has amazing stand (4 people couldn't pull his legs apart tied with ropes left and right. He's Chi-Sao (Sticky Hands) technique is impossibly fluent, fast and powerful. He has such breathing and body control which today not too many masters have.

I am not from Leung Ting School, but let me ask you..can you or your teacher take him on, or even his students students..such as Emin. So stop bashing him for making money from WC. He knows the true way but he is so adept that he has the luxury of deviating from the traditional. There are only a few others that are better and he has done more for propogating WC than anyone except Yip Man or Bruce Lee!

I am sure people can take him on.. but that does not validates his or their art. Any martial artists knows that First you fight the person not the art. Emin, its a natural fighter regardless. Yea.. Gary Lam or for example Wong Shun Leung who beat up Bruce Lee (yes.. read the letter Bruce wrote to him) or was his later Teacher..and hundreds of other and put WC on the map with streetfights! Who did Leung Ting fight?
You are right, Leung Ting has most students.. which kinda sucks..

Wing Tsun system is a very good system. It's fluid,not as hard as Wong Shun Leung's and now Grandmaster Gary Lam. I respect Wong as probably one of the greatest Wing Chun masters. However,saying that Leung Ting's Kung Fu is a joke is not knowing anything about it,and ofcourse,disrespectful.
Allthough i agree on that "he's a marketer" part,there's really nothing bad about it as everyone does it,Leung Ting just did it first. Peace be on to you,Ving Tsun brother.

@Svemocn1Vidar I did train The wing tsun system as well as other wing chun systems out there. I actually met a few practitioners thru the wing tsun system that were actually very good. One of them actually training for 7 years! And that is how I came to my conclusions from going forth and back with him. And we both kinda agreed. I came at this from a neutral point of view.. wanting to learn the best system before I wasted my time. I might have been hash in my statement though :)

If you embrace whatever you're learning with wide open arms,no time will be wasted. Things must be tried out to discover what works best for you.I also learned one important thing : Whoever is teaching you and whatever system that may be,be grateful and respectful. Such atitude will certainly get you something in return. I tried Cheung' system first,it didnt work for me. Now i train Wing Tsun and it works better for me. Once i get the chance,i will try WSL system as well. All the best!

The styles are only slightly different just as every master has different variations of kung fu he teaches. The main difference is that sifu wong is a stand prominent art rather than an art of equal measure. Leung ting isnot a disciple of the same master rather of a variation of the masters original school

many places in the orient practiced ving tsung, wing chun, wing tsung ( and other pronunciations) and exist many shifus graduated by the grand master Yip Man and son, i think be guard respect for this style and all shifus because if i remember good wing chun isn`t only a martial way wing chun is a life style i learn this of my shifu.

You obviously have never tried wing tsun (the style in this video is NOT wing chun), otherwise you could naver make a statement like that. If you have guts seek out an instructor and ask him to demonstrate.
But I guess I'm wasting my time here. Someone who could make a lame statement like that would probably never be able to do what is right anyway..

kimchelo if this is not right wing chung but it uses the same punches and blocks and if ip man is not right wing chung master then who at all is authority to say what is right in this style!this is very simple style based on close distance fighting.

Hey Supralee, I would like to clear some things up for you. You are correct when you say WC looks when fighting someone of the same style. What you are missing is that no matter what style you fight against, WC was not meant to be flashy. It was meant to be effective and that it is. You have get out of the mindset that "My system is better than yours" and explore each ones effectiveness. Good Luck.

wing chung has some good basic exercises but there are also much unreal stuff in it and repeating and repeating them over and over makes one fight robotlike manner.but it is deeper than karate.

u seem not to no wut the hell ur talking about. Kung Fu is Kung Fu. there are many different styles mixed in one. Alot of the blocks r similar. They look the same always because Kung Fu itself doesnt always look good on film. Very precise moves. Ive practiced two forms of Martial arts. Mayb you should challenge an instructor. I garuantee one hand is all they need!
