Say u have an asshole brother who intentionally poured soda into your keyboard... 1 key is sticking and requires a lot of force to press. How would I go about fixing this?
Thanks so much!!! Now I feel confident that I can fix my keyboard!!! Yeah! I NEVER would have tackled it without watching you do it, so I REALLY appreciate it!!!
DUDE! Your video is the best!! Thanks for showing me exactly what I needed to see. Hope the "old girl" gives you many more years of service. We should all chip in and buy you a powered screwdriver!
@nobody000tube, after replacing keys and hammers did you notice the action for the key was more like new (firmer, less mushy) afterward? If so, do you attribute it to the key or the hammer replacement? Thanks!
I had a dead key on a Roland RD-500 a couple years back, and it was not the hammer mechanism that was broken, but the key itself had worn down. It was middle C. So I swapped that middle C key with the lowest C key on the keyboard and that was enough to fix it (though I'm without a lowest C key.)
Does anyone know if you can still buy key replacements for the RD-500?
I've recently (and foolishly) spilt water on a similar roland and now 5 of the keys are dead. At first the keys only played very loudly, making me think that only the pressure sensors were messed up, but then each key proceeded to die one by one. Do you recommend any procedure? I'm hesitant to take it to a technician since they tend to overcharge so much!!!
Thanks a lot! I've got a Roland HP-145 that had a busted key... The same exact thing which happened to your keyboard in this video. I had no clue how to get the keys out until I saw the part where you popped them out of the hinges.
Hello! Thank you for providing this video. I learned enough that I was able to repair my RD-500. I did learn that Roland US has an offer for $300 for a 88 hammer replacement kit, which is what I used. Here's a video of my RD-500 repair.
Your tutorial was GREATLY appreciated!!!! Just broke a much-needed key during a rehearsal, and have a performance in a week. I almost passed out when it happened. Took a look inside, but had no idea where to start. Thanks to you...my RD600 will be up and running - also own an A90ex - love 'em both!!!! God Bless...
I just wanted to say thank you EVER so much for your tutorial. I had a damaged key (middle D) followed your instructions and it worked like a charm. The lead piece at the bottom of the key and I thought I could crazy glue it for the time being but....wait??...DUUHHH???...just take another piece from another key so I swapped the top A (which I rarely play) and VOILA!!!!. Back in action!! Thanks a TON for this!! LOVE my A-90!!
Very informative vid, I don't have a Roland myself (have a Oxygen 88) but this gives me a better idea of the inside of keyboards. Gonna throw your vid a like. Cheers.
"Hi, i have a Roland D 70 can i still follow the same instructions for this keyboard."
No, the D70 doesn't have this construction. The D70s keys are kept in place with tiny metal springs. Problem for the D70 is, these springs can come loose and I am just trying to find out how they can be kept in place.
Thank you so much! I am a total technophobe when it comes to electronics - but with this economy, I gots not bucks to pay someone else to fix my problems! Great video.
@matsuhiro1 You get parts from roland, if your keyboard is a roland. Ck out my channel, I see you like tech. my ELECTRIC DRUMS are wildddddddddd. good luck in the valley..
Dude... I praise you... I just fixed my Roland RD 700 SX Because of you :D :D :D !! I copied the way you removed the shell.. and how to remove the keys by separating the tail.. I wouldn't have dared trying this without that knowledge... you just saved me probably $300 repair fee... and I feel i could comfortably do the same kind of repair again and again. Now I can get back to rocking out without a more than an hour pause... thank you HEAAAAPS!
hi, will this be the same for replacing a broken key on the fantom x6? and where could i find a replace key, well thanks ton im definitely fav this and 5 stars!
Good Video. I can't find a place where to order the hammers for this keyboard. Anybody can send me link where to order, I need 88 hammer for the RD500. All Roland Keyboards I open to repair have a bad, complex or simply garbage mechanism. These hammer keys are definitely a bad designed.
Thankyou thankyou thankyou. I was busting my arse for hours trying to figure out how to take thekeys out. I'd unscrewed every screw there was and still couldn;t figure. And then you showed the flatscrewsriver at the back of the note. Why didn't think of that! Thanksyou thankyou!!!!!
Thanks a million for this vid! Just found a Roland A-90 with TEN dead keys right in the middle of the board. Will be undergoing this operation in the next week or two, as soon as I can get the parts. Thanks!
Good presentation!
