so yeah... it looked like the CB won. Why was the RD known as "the giant killer" when it was so closely matched to a CBR400? I thought this thing was capable of eating up 750s? I hope my R5 350 (pre-RD) is fast... just bought it and am in the process of getting it running.
The RD got a bad start, it nearly wheelie d half way down the track. As far as it eating up 750cc 4 strokes Ive seen plenty of that when its ridden properly.
This right here is the reason why people should discard their children at birth.
RD400s are very capibale of eating up 750s and some 1000s of the time (gs750s, CB 750s, not new bikes) The Rd still has the handling/speed to do in guys on newer bikes too (if the rider knows what he is doing.
I have an RD350LC (with a 400 Daytona Engine in it) And Ive done in guys on R6s (granted they had no idea what they were riding)
@Marshall498 Nah I agree with you man. I now own a running 1972 R5 350 w/ expansion chambers and a little bit of port work. The bike screams. It runs circles around my CB 750s & my Virago 750. My buddy raced me with his modified (allot of motor work done) CB 550 cafe bike and was blown away at how fast my bike destroyed his in both corners & the straight line. I have since eaten my words from what I wrote before & have a new found respect 4 these bikes. Now its time to get my H1 on the road!
Them 400's, twice seized and tried to kill me @ 95 mph rear wheel lock.
Real 1st, 2nd gear wheelie machines, off the power.

RD got a crappy start, they're EXTREMELY hard to tame on 1st gear.

Cool, just found this - that's me on my CBR400.
It may look like a CB on the vid because of the low resolution and none of the lower fairing was fitted at the time.
You'd think with a 4 stroke motor it'd be easy to launch the CBR but it redlines at 14000 :S and there's bugger all power below 10000.
The RD is definitely quicker off the mark but I think it'd be more in my favour over a 1/4, was getting higher terminal speeds.
I'll have a look around for the time sheets.
