@ajmaddy17 fg% is just a matter of shot selection. Jordan's game is like dwade's and lebron's...they slash to the rim for layups. Kobe's primary game is outside perimeter hence his fg% is at 45. If you think about it...it's a really good fg percentage when you mainly take outside shots.

@trimen51 im not comparing mj's shooting to kobe's shooting based off of one career game winning shot, i'm basing it off of shooting from their whole careers. mj was a more consistent shooter in terms of slightly making more of his shots than kobe has, but kobe is a better overall shooter. his tough shot making ability was better and his shot range was way better than jordan's.

Yeah 2006 and 2007 were some of the best years of Kobe's career. 2006 he lost in the first round to the Suns after being up 3 games to 1 and got absolutely blown out in game 7. 2007 he and the Lakers lost in the first round again, only this time 4 games to 1 and then he asked to be traded. Shot selection, defense, and of course the intangibles are key areas where Kobe trails MJ. I still have Kobe top 20 all time though.

I've seen Jordan rise up and shoot 3s for game winners plenty of times actually. And if you are "locked up" at the 3pt line, that means you are at least doubled, which means the intelligent thing is to pass, not jack up a low% shot. Jordan could hit those, but realized they were bad shots.
Interior defense was actually much stronger back in MJ's day "the era of the big man": ewing, robinson, kareem, mourning, olajuwon, eaton, bol, smits, mutombo, shaq, Parish...many killer defensive interior players, including the best shot blockers of all time.

@trimen51 im not comparing mj's shooting to kobe's shooting based off of one career game winning shot, i'm basing it off of shooting from their whole careers. mj was a more consistent shooter in terms of slightly making more of his shots than kobe has, but kobe is a better overall shooter. his tough shot making ability was better and his shot range was way better than jordan's.

I agree with you that Kobe doesn't touch MJ but there are two reasons why, and clutch ability isn't it1) Kobe needs better SHOT SELECTION Jordan would never look aloof on the offense cuz he beat you off the dribble to dunk in the baseline but passed well when necessary 2)Be a BETTER DEFENDER jordan's mystique was in beating other greats as a defender and stealing the ball, denying them kobe needs to read offenses to be comparable

Broadening his shot selection? Actually, even when Kobe played with shaq he never shot over .469 for a season. So basically no matter what the situation, Kobe has never proven he can shoot better than .469 in a season. MJ shot better than that 11 seasons.

I think Kobe is a better 3PT shooter. I think that is the one thing he does better than MJ, but barely. I think MJ was just as good if not better within the arc. Tex Winter, who coached both said that Kobe is not a better shooter. And no, Jordan did not have a tough time shooting 3s. He shot 33% for his career, compared with 34% for Kobe.

these percentages dum neam anything. Jordan took less threes then Kobe. that's y he iz close to kobe in the percentages. If Jordan took az much thress as Kobe his percentage wood b way lower. and kobe's field goal percentage iz 45 while Jordan's is 50. Kobe takes harder nd tougher shots mor often den Jordan did and hes onli 5% behind him. Think bout dat.

Actually, there are plenty of seasons Kobe took less 3s than Jordan did, yet Kobe never shot .427 from 3 like MJ did. MJ had plenty of seasons where he took more 3s than Kobe did during certain seasons, and MJ shot better. Sorry man.

Ive watched alot of Jordan. And his game consists of taking it to the rim, therefore allowing for the hohger percentage shot. Yes, he also took some hard shots but not az much az kobe. truss me ive watched alot of jordanz games.

uhhh...no. He did much more than take it to the rim, but obviously, as any intelligent player knows, it is much smarter to drive the ball, try to draw fouls and get to the line. Yet MJ hit tons of outside shots throughout his career. Watch any of his games on here for evidence. Then again, you are only 18, so you basically missed his entire career. Kobe has nothing on MJ save for possibly 3PT shooting. MJ owns him.

Ive watched all of Jordan's games on youtube not to mention i also haf tapes that my brother recorded of him playing. Ur rite it iz much easier and smarter to drive nd attract the foul. But if Jordan evr got locked up at the three point line hed b finished. Im not sur if itz juss me but wenevr i watch Jordan games, i alwayz c him penetrate so easily. I giv him credit but i also believe that the interior defence back in the day wuz not az strong az it mite b now. that's my viewpoint.

I've seen Jordan rise up and shoot 3s for game winners plenty of times actually. And if you are "locked up" at the 3pt line, that means you are at least doubled, which means the intelligent thing is to pass, not jack up a low% shot. Jordan could hit those, but realized they were bad shots.

Interior defense was actually much stronger back in MJ's day "the era of the big man": ewing, robinson, kareem, mourning, olajuwon, eaton, bol, smits, mutombo, shaq, Parish...many killer defensive interior players, including the best shot blockers of all time.

Face it, MJ was a better scorer, and a better player all around. He averaged more ppg, higher top season, better FG%, effective FG%, true shooting % and pts per FGA. On every measure of offensive efficiency, MJ beats Kobe. he also owns him on rebs, ass, stls, and blocks. Sorry kid, MJ owns KB on everything save for 3PT shooting.

You are welcome to your opinion, but the stats and evidence bear out that Jordan scored more frequently, and more efficiently. Each shot MJ took had a greater chance of going in.
